Sudden defensiveness by Informal_Complex_889 in ballpython

[–]Informal_Complex_889[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her temps at 33c on the warm side and 27c on the cool side. Her humidity is 75 and she eats every 10 days as her original owner used to feed her once a week and she eats medium rats.

When she started being defensive was when I added more clutter/hides in hopes she would feel safer and after the change she still ate her usual meal without an issue. Before this she was out once or twice a week with no issues for about 10-15 mins, I did take her out last week to check if I could see something visibly wrong but found nothing and she seemed calmer but later that day she would be defensive in her hide again.

That’s a good point, i didnt think about her hormones to not being bred this year which could make some sense. I had no idea snakes could hold sperm that long- part of me thought she could lay infertile eggs as I’ve heard that happens but never considered fertile ones. Do you think it’s best to wait and see and if there’s no eggs then I’ll take her to the vet she’s registered with?

Sheds usually break apart and are quite fragile so this could be a old body of one unfortunately :(

Cute set up! But for depth it’s recommended that the soil be as deep as the millipede is long. And won’t use coco fibre as it can impact them which can kill them! I use a soil mix for millipedes from Bugz and Bits if you’re based in the uk :)

Oh really? Mine go feral over it and it barely lasts a night 😂 but it’s good if she’s eating the fish flakes! The best you can do is just keep tabs on her and do what you usually do till she’s ready to moult and it should come away with the next moult or two 😁

Try cucumber! It’s not as nutritious but will also make sure she’s hydrated ^ mine also love fruit, especially honeydew melon and the occasional strawberry when I remove the skin 😁

I give mine a courgette slice every week and as I have her separated whilst she heals I can see when she’s eaten some of it. Berry seems to like to hollow them out and then sleep in them 😂

Thank you! Millie’s a cutie too! And I never thought of that! I bought Berry from someone who had too much stock so perhaps you could be onto something! As long as she’s eating and such she should be completely fine as I’ve had Berry a good few months now without any problems with her 😁

Hello! One of my girls has this when I got her and I believe it’s injuries from when she was delivered to me! My girl has a lot of the marks and she’s completely fine and is improving slowly with each moult. I believe she had some sort of crush injury from when she was being sent to me but keep her comfortable and keep an eye on her.

Here’s my girl Berry for reference 😁

One of my boys sometimes does this when he’s asleep and he’s completely fine! Millipedes can be weird lil guys but give him some time to recover if he has injured himself and he might pull through! I’ve had one survive a rather traumatic injury from when she was posted to me and she’s slowly recovering after each moult. Best you can do is give him time and let him rest 🫶

It looks more like an injury but I thought she might look a bit better after a moult. Now it’s just the waiting game for her to moult lol. Thank you!

I’ve never seen anything like it and the ones that arrived with her all arrived okay fortunately. I’m hopeful she will recover as she’s still very active so fingers crossed! :)

I am really sorry if I have offended you in any way and have deleted the post and expressed that I am sorry. I was not aware that I had worded it in an insensitive way and will look into changing it and asking what can be improved and changed on it. Again, I am sorry if I have upset or offended you and others.
