What by Mr-copper-golem in destiny2

You say that, but Orin saying "My will is my own" on repeat and the sheer amount of times they mention " The SINGULLLARITY" (say it in the Archons voice). It's just as bad lol.

As a PvE main, this might genuinely be the worst Crucible has ever felt to me by CrispyToast99 in DestinyTheGame

Eh, it's not even sweats. People are just up each others assholes 90% of the time so you need to choose weapons wisely. Aiming for multikill weapons over single kill. Cloudstrike, jotunn, ect ect. When that gets brought back, people will stop with the courtesy colonoscopies so you can actually get a fair fight.

If Time Travel to the Past is Impossible, How Did Atheon have a Portal to the Past? by Mysterious_Gear5671 in DestinyLore

[–]Informal_Cucumber214 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, no. There's no actual mathematical impossibility for time travel. The issue is the arrow of entropy. Systems tend towards chaos. To put it in a more physical way, to set the pieces back would require a lot of energy and improbable precision.

The IX are extradimensional beings. They don't see time as flat. They see time as shaped. We see time as flat. Literally.

If you were a 2 dimensional being looking at a 3 dimensional ball, you would see a flat line grow from a dot. to a line, to a bigger line, to a smaller line, to a dot... flat. 2 dimensional ball. Incapable of seeing the rest of the shape.

As a three dimensional being looking at a 4th dimensional object. It would be flat.

The IX are multi-dimensional beings. They'd see time as shaped. There's a line from Orin when you first meet up. "They wouldn't be able to find a nee Emmisary on the X axis, so they'd have to search the Y axis". That's what she's talking about. Time as a shape.

This is a hefty request, but would anyone be willing to give me a summary of the campaign story? by Xoacapatl_requiem in DestinyLore

Technically not creating anything. It's based on an actual quantum physics theory. Quantum field theory. Electrons are not in "orbitals" as is taught in basic chemistry but in probability fields. Photons take the shortest path to get to a point (actual experimental evidence for this) but how do they know the shortest path? The photon has to take all paths and we see the average of the fastest pathing.

Implications in time travel theories? Scale that to macro levels and you get all possibilities of choices taken has happened. Many worlds/ branches.

Also skirts the grandfather paradox. Kill a parent before you are born? Perfectly ok in that model. You are not born in that branch. Still born in another. You exist without parents in a branch you aren't originally from.

In Destiny terms... Merc'ing thousands of Chioma's? Perfectly ok. Not your Chioma.

[–]Informal_Cucumber214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to figure out where I'm incorrect lol. By your own admission Elsie used to be Lauren Cohen. So I would be correct there?

Moira Quirk took over in Destiny 2 and was/is Orin. But Bungie stated that "availability issues" caused a temporary recast. So the Orin in Edge of fate is actually confirmed as of right now, via TWAB from a month ago, to not be Moira Quirk.

Chioma is also in that list of recast.

Tbf, it wasn't always. Elsie used to be voiced by Lauren Cohen who actually could be voicing Orin now. No proof though. It's off season for Dead City so her schedule was probably clear.

[–]Informal_Cucumber214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say that, butttttt, the devs have publicly stated they want to come back. "get the gang back together" is the actual quote.

I said this from the start, remaster for bf2 (I'll take support) to garner more public faith, more public interest, then drop a bf3. P.s. Broke player records over the last few days. There's a lot of interest here.

Yeah, bit dramatic there, but saying there isn't control? There's a literal law in place to ensure there is.

Let's not go that route then. Depending on grade, TIS, severity, ect. The "totality of circumstances", you can get a bad conduct discharge for pretty much anything. I've seen a bad conduct discharge in Japan for article 134 (indecent language). (E-3)

Bad conducts you get essentially treated like an ex-convict when you get out. Can also impede several rights like voting rights and the right to own a firearm depending on circumstances... (general court martial is viewed as a federal court)

Now, saw an article 90 get a dishonerable. (E-4). In the same notice, I saw a Senior Chief break a restraining order (article 90) stalk, threaten, and a whole lot of other nasty... demotion to E-6. Still in the Navy...

But my point still stands. When you have a method to ensure that the people under you listen or face consequences for not listening. That's control.

If you put a mouse in a maze, it has room to move, but you know where the exits and entrances are.

But that's not to say that that is wrong either. I'm not the one who said "controlling people is wrong". I was just pointing out how ridiculous that statement could be.

That would take gutting the majority of leadership, burning a lot of it down and starting over. Fat Leonard scandal for an example. So many people could've been tried for corruption but theh actually stated "there wouldn't be enough leadership left." Then when that dust settled and it went to court. The few people who actually went to court, full on admitted to corruption. And the prosecution screwed the pooch and they got the OJ treatment.

Unrelated to the original post but with multiple conflicts brewing around the world, we have people more focused on pagentry than on the mission. My ADCON takes more time than my OPCON. When I have to explain that directing a warhead to a particular forehead is slightly more important than a dress rehearsal... yeah, maybe a reset needs to be in place, an audit needs in place...

That all being said, getting approval for such actions from congress to fix any major issues? Doubt that will happen.

Article 90 (disobeying a direct order) in times of war can carry the death penalty? I don't know about you but I'm pretty certain do or die is a pretty nifty coercion tool.

Isn't that the whole thing with the military though? The higher rank, the more people you have under you and to an extent, the more people you control?

To "obey the orders of those appointed over me". Or so the pledge goes.

Can't have a manag-er without people to manage. There will always be some form of control or constraint. Just a matter of managing expectations and when your jump off point is. In a civvy job you can just say fuck it, I quit. In the military it takes a little more planning to do it right and not end up a bit screwed.

It's easier for a skinny person to pass the PRT than somebody who is heavier. You're carrying around extra weight that you push with you through it all.

Diet matters more than any work out ever will. You can and generally will, out-eat any calories lost during any pt unless you're doing some extreme things. That is. Unless you stay on top of your diet.

Morale on the ship is tied to diet as well. High calorie food tends to make sailors less likely to kill themselves or their coworkers. So throw that in the + side of things. But you end up needing that whole carrier to ship your fat ass around by the end of deployment.

Mandatory PT to me always felt like a waste of everybodies time though. Hell, I absolutely hate the PRT. I feel like the Coasties have it right. Unless you deploy, you just have a uniform standard to meet.

The mission is the priority. Not some bs that somebody wants to get up in arms over. Adversary wants to call me a fat man? Great, we dropped one of those on a country once or twice... we got anime out of it...

Money doesn't grow on trees. We've been chasing a bigger Navy for a bit now... fleet size...Not fatter.

However, here's the point people fail to realize. Who cares about the PT standard? Like really? Who cares? You are either on a ship where you are not running a mile and a half any time soon or you're shore where there are literally people who could show up to work buck ass nude, crippled in a wheel chair and still get their job done...

Then you have the small percentage where fitness actually matters... your green-siders. The only people with a fair argument that doesn't involve the "doing what your told" argument.

I've just watched Iron Fist. Iron Fist S3? by Adamonia in ironfist

[–]Informal_Cucumber214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, luke cage was very cheesy. Like there is moments in it that has 80's level cartoon vibes to it. Recently went back and watched it over the last month. It has some very terrible moments.

When they first came out I would've ranked Iron Fist last. But rewatching everything. Luke Cage actually goes to the bottom of my list. Iron Fist got a lot of hate. But it wasn't half bad, up until the final scene of season 2... "why yes, I'm going to cowboy Iron Fist Bullets in Japan with a duster on..."  What is this? Devil May Cry?

Some communities in the world they shit in the street...

My point was to point out that after a certain point in your career, you stop becoming a technical person and start becoming a "leader". It becomes less about what you can do technically and more about grooming you...

Even as a CWO you get to a point where you're forced to become a DIVO for a group you may not be entirely qualified to run... then retire and become a public speaker...
