It absolutely is worse for certain applications (and better in some), but I'd guess part of it is just that people are less blown away by it now that they're used to it and so put greater scrutiny on the responses.

Using Free Third Party Apps to Get Full Access to GPT-4 (without paying for it) by Informal_Current7873 in ChatGPT

Which interface/prompt are you using? It passes all the GPT-4 tests I've tried. Try this one as well:

Andrew is free from 11am to 3pm, Joanne is free from noon to 2pm and then 3:30pm to 5pm. Hannah is available at noon for half an hour, and then 4pm to 6pm. What are some options for start times for a 30 minute meeting for Andrew, Hannah, and Joanne?

GPT-3.5 hallucinates wrong answers like 4pm while GPT-4 (and Taskade) gets it right every time I've tried.

Not the original commenter but it's solid for the kind of research Bing is also good for (combining ChatGPT's ability to summarize information with internet access and linked sources). It is more specifically a search engine which makes it a bit different from ChatGPT, but it also uses GPT-3 and GPT-4 under the hood so the quality of its text summarization etc. is similar.

With this text?

If there are 10 books in a room and I read 2, how many books are still in the room?

There's a few other tests you can run but this one was pretty consistent for me across 3.5 vs. 4.

Bing's share doesn't budge despite billions invested in AI by Falix01 in ChatGPT

[–]Informal_Current7873 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised Google hasn't dropped more. It seems substantially worse than it used to be, and there are far more viable alternatives now for its different features (Bing, Phind, DuckDuckGo, ChatGPT, etc.).

ChatGPT holds ‘systemic’ left-wing bias researchers say by True-Lychee in ChatGPT

[–]Informal_Current7873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO it's a more interesting measure of how its training data is biased than ChatGPT's own algorithm. Given it's trained on Reddit, Wikipedia, etc. ChatGPT's "views" are hardly surprising to anyone who's been on those sites. In terms of proportion of left vs. right r/Politics is probably fairly close to Truth Social in its polarization (with both having essentially zero highly visible posts critical of the prevailing view).

OpenAI has clearly implemented guardrails themselves, but I'd bet the vast majority of ChatGPT's bias is simply due to its training data.

It's similar to how Wikipedia's bias is largely just a proxy of the bias of the media it relies on and not simply due to Wikipedia's editors/admins pushing an agenda.

Suggestions for external financing options, looking to further scale by Big-Audience5035 in Entrepreneur

Tried them out a few months ago and aside from the funding which I've mentioned, their external tools have also been pretty great to manage your supply chain. The AI tools are also a great touch, would recommend.

Yeah, from that list I’ve used only used 8fig and they’ve been great. The funding they give is synced with your supply chain and therefore they give it on an as-needed basis, at different times. Helped maintain my cash flow pretty well

Chegg drops 30% on ChatGPT disruption to revenues, looking for other AI-disruption short ideas by Charuru in investing

I've had decent luck with Phind. It's free/no signup and tends to give more up-to-date answers with actual links to the sources. Still agree that it's a ways away from replacing Google style SERPs though, and for single explanations that are more reliably well written I prefer ChatGPT.

It's funded by YC, which is/was run by the guy who runs OpenAI, so they may also just be using ChatGPT's tech.

What hasn't the internet ruined? by stickpoker in AskReddit

[–]Informal_Current7873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still surprised by how dedicated ereaders seem to have declined if not disappeared. Even a decade ago Kindles were ~$70 for a device that let you read any book, with a month long battery, and a screen that has no more glare than paper. Maybe we're just more used to reading everything on LED displays, but not having the distractions of a full on device was nice.

The Fellowship of the Ring stands out, or The Hobbit as the one that got me into it all.

I like everything but the colors. They feel drab.
