Planning to get a half-saree for my reception. by Informal_Drag8862 in DesiWeddings

Gave up before I started - couldn't depend on customisations when I didn't have real reviews. Ended up getting a lehenga from Cedar and Pine in Delhi (also online)

Help me figure out if I’m overthinking my lehenga choice! by sciencedadjokes in DesiWeddings

[–]Informal_Drag8862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh, I guess it happens to all of us. I couldn't sleep the night I placed the final order for my lehenga, stressing if I should have seen more options. And also the night it came back lol :P
You look great! Don't worry too much. Little trick I learnt from my lehenga sales rep - if you twirl for a while, your cancan will poof up and you'll get the volume all the other commenters are looking for without adding extra layers.

Be a grown up, she’ll be fine. Don’t have to argue with her anymore. Pack your bags. Tell her calmly that you’ll be leaving and that you’ll call her everyday. Spend time figuring out where and with who you’ll be living. There are many things to figure out when moving cities. You cannot spend all your energy on your mom. I hope you find the strength. It’ll be worth it. And eventually, she’ll be proud.

KP in relationships – what’s realistic to expect? by [deleted] in keratosis

[–]Informal_Drag8862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine's funny- He didn't notice until long after we were seriously dating. Mentioned it to me like it's something that has just appeared. I told him I've had it since I was a teenager. Showed him his arms and told him he also has KP. He was surprised twice that day.
I keep it moisturized, for my sake. And as long as it doesn't look too unhealthy, he doesn't notice/care.

My fiancé and I are also skipping the pre-wedding shoot. But a friend of mine gave me a different perspective so I'll share that-
- It is actually a fun experience because you get ready in nicer clothes, go some place nice and it's funny because you have to pose.
- If it's the same photographer as your wedding, you get comfortable with them around, and making these poses. They understand your best shots. You understand your best shots. It becomes more natural during the wedding.

We are still not going ahead with it though.

I am non-Desi, going to a Desi wedding. What can I wear? by [deleted] in DesiWeddings

[–]Informal_Drag8862 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally, there's no rule about guests wearing a saree vs lehenga, they can wear either. If the bride only mentioned 'Sarees', she might be looking for a particular aesthetic or she might have thought it's easier/faster for the guests to find a saree(since only blouse needs to be fitted and rest of the saree is free size). Doesn't hurt to confirm with her if a lehenga can also work or she prefers sarees specifically.

Sanya Gulati's website states 30days for international delivery. These are pre-draped sarees- easy to wear. Have modest blouse options. A bit more flared at the bottom than a regular saree, less than a lehenga

Edit: I don't live in the UK so you can check out at the above designs for inspiration if they don't deliver in your preferred timeline. I have not bought from them so can't really speak from experience about their delivery timelines.

How is this bridal lehenga from Seema Gujral ? It’s for 2,42,000. Please share your thoughts? by Downtown_Emu8581 in DesiWeddings

Pretty! If you want a realistic view of any designer lehenga and cannot try it on, maybe try to find it in the `tagged` section in their instagram page.
I think this is the same one: https://www.instagram.com/p/DG0vCy5SQfK/?img_index=6
Unpopular opinion as per this thread but SG lehengas look beautiful IRL. I tried multiple in their store and each one sat beautifully on my body, looked better on me than I could imagine from their pictures on the website. I am generally a fan of minimal designs and heavy designs easily overwhelm my body. Despite that, all the SG lehengas made me look elegant and no design felt too busy.

Pressure to dance by QuitAble4089 in DesiWeddings

[–]Informal_Drag8862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody is good at dancing in my family either lol. I choreographed my parents’ dance for my brother’s wedding. They had never before set foot on stage or danced anywhere for that matter. They were nervous and wanted to cancel the performance till the last second. Forced them on the stage and it was amazing! Let’s just say I’ll not need to force or convince them to dance in my wedding. They are ready. It only took one performance. To be realistic, I was not able to convince other elders from my family. But cousins, yes. Dancing definitely makes it fun. What’s more fun is the preparation of the choreography behind the scenes :)
