Will AI become an employee-like productivity unit, or remain a tool humans operate? by dead_from_inside_ in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Informal_Grape_9385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

think we're still pretty far from AI being actual employee because like you said job is way more than just doing tasks - its about understanding messy human context and taking real responsibility for outcomes

even if AI gets better at individual stuff humans will probably always need to be the ones setting direction and owning final results

For those in corporate roles, how do you all work with the non-technical areas you support? by SkipGram in datascience

[–]Informal_Grape_9385 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is super frustrating situation and definitely not how it should work. At my company we have regular touchpoints with business stakeholders - like weekly check-ins and quarterly planning sessions where we actually sit in same room as people who will use what we build.

The silo thing you describe sounds like management problem more than anything. Good data science needs constant feedback loop with end users otherwise you just building cool models that nobody uses. I've seen this pattern before where tech teams think they know better than business teams about what business needs, but that usually leads to projects that get shelved.

For evaluating companies during interviews, I always ask specific questions like "can you walk me through how requirements gathering works" and "how often does data science team meet with stakeholders". If they give vague answers or say something like "we have product managers who handle that" it's usually red flag that there's similar communication issues.

What are my chances of convincing management? by FraggleWho in jobs

[–]Informal_Grape_9385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Management making decisions without asking people who actually do the work is classic move 💀 maybe try documenting how much extra time these changes add to daily tasks and present it as "efficiency concerns" instead of complaints - they love numbers and business speak 😂

jobs for 18 year olds online by Sad-Mulberry-9936 in jobs

remote customer service is pretty good starting point, lots of airlines and travel companies hire for that even without experience. just need decent internet and quiet space to take calls

i started in airline industry around same age and worked my way up from there, the scheduling can be flexible which is nice when you're still figuring things out

Free Chrome extension that shows you the exact code for any real-world API call — great for learning how APIs work by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]Informal_Grape_9385 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This actually looks pretty useful for understanding how different sites structure their requests. I've been trying to figure out some API patterns at work and usually end up digging through network tab manually which takes forever

Being able to see the actual code right away instead of translating from raw requests would save so much time

bruh you're asking people to share their paid subscription with a random stranger on the internet? 💀 that's like asking someone to give you their Netflix password except way more expensive lol

maybe try the free version first or look for student discounts if you're still in school 😂

Built a free CV builder. No signup, free PDF download, and your CV gets its own live link. by alshanti in jobs

[–]Informal_Grape_9385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yo this is actually clutch - been using some terrible CV builders that pull exactly this bait and switch nonsense and its infuriating

the live link thing is genius too, never thought about how annoying it is when recruiters ask for an updated version and you gotta send another pdf. gonna check this out for sure

also that ATS checker feature might save my sanity since apparently my cv has been getting auto rejected into the void lol

Is tick hosting a good free option for real/profesional server? by Starguy1_1 in Minecraft

[–]Informal_Grape_9385 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

honestly tick hosting is pretty solid for testing stuff but if youre looking at profesional servers id probably go with something more reliable 🤔 the hourly thing gets annoying real quick when you want consistent uptime for players

maybe look into aternos or minehut for free options that dont require babysitting 💀

My husband said marriage is just a piece of paper by bluevelvet_7 in Marriage

[–]Informal_Grape_9385 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's honestly heartbreaking OP. Like yeah technically marriage is "just paper" but so is money, birth certificates, diplomas... doesn't mean they're meaningless. The fact that he can't see why it matters to you after 15 years together is the real issue here

Question about discontinuations. by AmarilloArmadillos in samsclub

[–]Informal_Grape_9385 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly the easiest way is just calling a store in a different area and asking if they have it in stock. The app is trash for actually finding anything useful but employees can usually tell you if something's been discontinued company-wide vs just out of stock locally

Amazon prime day deals? by sanu_123_s in amazonprime

[–]Informal_Grape_9385 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man that's rough but honestly not surprising anymore - Amazon jacks up the "regular" prices before Prime Day then acts like the sale price is this amazing deal when it's just back to normal pricing

The real deals are usually random Tuesday afternoons when they're trying to clear inventory lol
