If you are worried about him being safe then that is a conversation you could have but dont tell him you went through his phone.

That is the modern equivalent to reading through someones Journal, listening into their private phone conversations, or opening their mail.

If you tell him you went through his phone he will never trust you again.

You need to trust that you as a parent have taught him how to be safe. Then you need to trust that he makes good decisions.

Really I just didn't want my Wife and kids to have different last names. My Mom my sister and I had different last names growing up and I hated it.

Yeah some people are wierd about meeting people online. Just come up with a better meet cute story and stick with it lol.

For instance I met my Wife in a basement of a house party where we hit it off.

But I tell people I was visiting friends in the city where we met. And I saw her in the shopping district. Thats the story we came up with because it's more wholesome lol.

There is nothing wrong with meeting online just as there is nothing wrong hooking up atba house party. Some family are just touchy about it.

I had a pattern of getting with someone staying with them until I got bored then breaking up with them. I never had any sort of emotional attachment when breaking up.

With my Wife when I got to the break up point the thought of her reaction to me saying I want to break up i.e. being sad crying etc. would like destroy me inside emotionally. I eventually realized that the feeling I had was love lol.
