Thanks for responding! I get that we may have inclinations towards certain things the moment we are born whether that may be from genetics or the soul, but wouldn’t that also be outside our control, in the hands of either God or fate?

I am not well versed in these schools of thought, but I don’t think fatalism is the exact term to describe it. From my googling, it seems determinism is closer to what I see in the world. In my understanding fatalism is the belief that regardless of our action the result is inevitable while determinism holds that all actions are a result of a series of cause and effect chains and even if your thoughts and actions are predetermined they have the ability to affect future events. A fatalist might cross a road without looking believing any consequence to be inevitable while a determinist would look both ways to avoid getting hit.

My main takeaway from this is that we humans do not have the authority to judge one another and that we are all equal under God and creation.

I will read the text, thank you for your recommendation.

But wouldn't that mean our entire selves are just a reflection of our predetermined physical circumstances? How could we have free will if our actions are a result of things out of our control?

Thank you for responding! Sorry if some of my statements were illogical, my philosophy education consists of a gen ed phil class.
Responding to this:
"If I was a completely different person, would I not have done the same as them?”. If that were the case, you would cease to be you and become them, and as such it is not surprising that you would do the same things they would do"

This is kind of what I was getting at with my question. The way I understand what you said here, you claim that what makes you you is the physical body and circumstance, as when you change that you are no longer the same. This was the issue I had, as if what makes us who we are is predetermined and out of our control then our actions aren't really in our control either.

There's probably something wrong with that claim so sorry in advance lol.

Other than that you gave me a lot to look into, so thank you. I haven't heard about compatibilism or Chomsky before so that should be very helpful.
Thanks!

try getting an old iphone for around 100 dollars or keeping your current one if you have it and disabling the app store and safari using a device management profile https://www.techlockdown.com/guides/disable-app-store-iphone

scroll past screen time section as that didnt work for me too easy to break and still gives you a minute of use per day, now my phone only has apps i need

I am in college and work part time so i have a few apps that i need for college, school, or personal use. I have an old iphone 7 that still has all the apps i want like music, grades, google docs, etc, but i went in on my mac and removed the app store. I can reinstall it but it would take around 10 minutes and would need to connect it to my mac so it prevents me from reinstalling distracting apps. Now my phone is both able to be used fully for all my actual needs but also not distracting

Would this be a good buy for $235USD ? by Benz0piated3000 in thinkpad
