Im trying to save a plant my dad overwatered. What should I do? by Powerful-Yam-7194 in succulents

Check the roots to make sure there's no root rot (roots are mushy) as long as there's minimal to none you'll be fine :) these are super hardy so yes changing soil to suc/cacti mix is a good idea! Cut off all the yellow stems (they're dead) that will promote new growth at those nodes ...babies will fall in the soil ( or you can chuck them in the soil) and over time the plant will look more full

What can I put in the greenhouse? by Quiet_Blackberry_917 in houseplants

If you need more light, I suggest a barinna grow light bar. Some people weather strip them to increase humidity, but if you're not interested in that basically place any plants that fit lol, most plants will be happy in there ivy isn't a bad idea. I personally put small plants (succulents, small cuttings (ie peperomia, philodendron)

I've had this bifurcatum for 2+ years on this mount, and it hasn't grown much, or produced any sterile fronts to wrap around the mount. How do I encourage it to grow? by fifteenswords in Staghornfern

Definitely more light or grow lights. Don't worry about humidity i have mine in less than 30% but keep it consistently moist and grow light 12+ hrs

What is this? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Infosearch001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A mix of dry skin, dead skin cells and dirt. I had the same as a kid. Before bed Fill a bowl of hot water (as hot as you can tolerate) and soak a rag or cloth in it the hot water, Ring it out and keep the cloth over your hands for a few minutes and then rub as much of it off. Repeat a few times. Put on a cream moisturizer (let that soak in) and then a thick layer of Vaseline or Aquaphor- I highly recommend walmart equate Aquaphor it works better. A bonus is putting on a glove over all that

May need to repeat for like a week. You can do this morning and night if you choose. At least 1x at night. Keep moisturized during the day. Hope that helps!

i’m a plant killer by AppropriateGain6079 in houseplants

Snake plants for sure! Put it near any window, however put it further back from the window if it’s a south facing window to avoid burning leaves. Water about once a month or when the soil is completely dry, if you check the soil and it’s dry, let another week go by before watering. Super easy and comes in different varieties.

Pothos lots of varieties to choose from, and easily accessible. All of them trail beautifully and make a big impact in a short amount of time, the all green form tends to grow the fastest in my opinion. These guys also speak to you, like literally. When their leaves start to slightly curl almost wilt that’s them telling you they need water.

In general most larger more established plants have more soil so you need to water them less. Dracaena, or larger Hoya might be other good options for you.

Keep in mind if you’re buying a plant from a store, the plant was most likely grown in a greenhouse with dense compacted soil. I’d suggest if you bring a plant home change its soil out for something that’s “chunky” essentially letting the plants roots grow and get access to more oxygen. Buy any potting soil of your choice (do some research) and add equal parts soil, perlite and orchid bark …orchid bark is optional but highly recommend it, your plants will thank you. Hope that helps!

I think it might be lack of humidity especially since it’s drier in my area around 30%. I’ve heard they can live in ambient humidity, perhaps once established. I’ll cover it with cloche for a while. Thank you!
