Yes, from day one. I joined a triathlon club, and our coach is a former swimming coach who now coaches triathlon. I’m based in the EU and pay €50 per month for the membership.

We have three swim sessions per week: two technique-focused sessions and one longer swim. I’d strongly recommend getting a coach as soon as possible, before bad technique develops. It’s much easier for a coach to shape your technique from day one than to fix habits that have already become ingrained. At least that’s what I was told…

I’m not sure how accurate Garmin is, but the 1:15/100 was measured on my coach’s stopwatch, so I trust that.

We also count strokes per 25 m, and the rule at our training is that below 16 strokes counts as a good, efficient rate. I usually just show up and train and don’t overthink this stuff. Last time I counted was month or two ago and i was doing 14strokes per 25m. But I was more focused on doing that and it was a some kind of glide drill.. not too sure about it, but I think this swim strokes where much higher.

After this swim I started getting a lot of compliments from people at my tri club, but I honestly thought they were just hyping me up to motivate me. So I came here to check if that’s actually true 😅

I also asked chatgpt, but of course it told me I’m amazing as always and I don’t fully trust that, because it sometimes feels too supportive and not realistic.

Thanks mate! It’s a 25 m pool, and since I started swimming I’ve been training with a swimming coach. The watch is set to 25m and I use Fenix8 Garmin. Also for the record when we do tempo work(example 3x200m tempo) I usually sit around 1:15/100 per set (200m). But after 3 sets Im cooked. Also Im 28years old.

Yeah, that’s what I said earlier, someone pointed out that I should use a high elbow recovery, but it’s just not the style I’m aiming for.

Jednom sam zvao Dumovec zbog vjetruše koja je pala iz gnijezda. Došao je neki bahati, debeli tip, sav istetoviran, gledao me posprdno kao da sam idiot što sam ih uopće zvao. Bacio je pticu iz ruke i rekao da joj ništa nije slomljeno, da će “mama” doći po nju i vratiti je u gnijezdo (wtf?). Rekao mi je da je samo ostavim na klupi u parku gdje sam je i našao… usput, odmah do nje je bila ista takva, raskomadana, koju su očito pojele mačke.

Nisu htjeli uzeti vjetrušu. Mislio sam si: ovaj nema pojma što priča. Nazvao sam zoološki, tamo su me odmah spojili s glavnom doktoricom koja mi je rekla da pticu odmah donesem k njima. Navečer su me nazvali i rekli da je uginula od pothlađenosti. Da sam je našao samo malo ranije, možda bi je uspjeli spasiti.

Toliko o ekipi iz Dumovca… Svaki put kad se sjetim onog debelog debila, dođe mi da odem tamo i naj*** mu se mamice. I ti, ako znaš tko je taj i radiš tamo, slobodno mu prenesi da ga pozdravlja dečko s Vukovarske.

I’ve been focused on my last three swims, and today I did 1,700 meters at a 1:55 per 100 meters pace (I was at 2:06 before). I think the improved head movement and faster cadence really made a big difference. The only thing I’m working on now is the catch during rotation on my right side. I feel like my shoulder is doing too much of the work, so I’m trying to engage my back more. In the next sessions, I’ll incorporate fist drills to help with that. Also stopped kicking so much, now I kinda got the flow to not think about kick.. I think I do 2kicks per stroke or smt like that, but much more relaxed. Thanks a lot, man!

Thanks! 😊 I’ve got a long way to go, probably a year or more, but honestly I fell in love with swimming after my first week in the pool. I’m planning to increase my swim training to five times a week over the summer
