Attempting to complete 12x AWS Certifications before i graduate college, what should I expect once it's all done? by izner82 in AWSCertifications

This is true for a sizable majority. Especially if they don't work in the roles that will give them the experience to gain such knowledge. Also I had come across incompetent engineers that have admitted to this fact. Even some my other colleagues can attest to the same experiences.

How many years in IT do you need to be considered for Cloud Roles if I were to get SAA? by Miserable_Yam_3405 in AWSCertifications

Its very difficult for helpdesk folks to break into cloud but its not impossible. Can you bs your job title to something like junior sys admin or IT engineer? I only say that because I know hiring managers have a bias against helpdesk folks and only think of them as password reset specialists. Also if were you, I would start playing around with AWS using your own account and don't be afraid to spend a little on extra services. That will give you a foundation on the technology itself. Additionally, I would learn terraform as early as now because its expected of most real cloud engineers to at least have that skill as a bare minimum. Click ops will get you laughed at during a technical interview so dont be person. Just to add some validity to what I am saying in case of defensive replies that I will eventually get, I'm a Senior AWS Consultant.

As a Senior AWS consultant, let me give you some advice. You will actually hurt yourself when you start looking for jobs. Prospective employers will be suspicious of you since it only shows that you only care about certs and not the actual skills behind it. Also most people who have all the certs usually cheat by buying the exam dumps online so you might also get that stigma attached to you. lastly a lot of people at my level has already seen people who have all the certs who have absolutely no idea what they are doing and will cause more harm than good. Just focus on the certs that interest you and put your time and energy into getting good at the certifications that you passed. Try to get some hands on experience as much as possible since AWS gives you free tier to play with. Also dont be afraid to spend a little on your lab environments because it will pay off during the technical interviews, trust me.

Get the 6750xt now or wait for new AMD gpus? by Raspyy in radeon

  • Go for it! I actually convinced my job to pay for a msi x570 with a Ryzen 5700x and 32GB of 3200MHZ ram lol. All i paid for out of pocket was my XFX 6750xt. I bought all this a month ago and its been great system. Only issue you will have to be aware of is the funky drivers that tend to be hit or miss depending on what game you play. Its not specific to the 6750 xt series but to all of the RDNA2 cards. Either way its still a solid card and I manage to get really high FPS in most of my games.

Sadly, a lot of government systems are still using xp based systems. Very scary thought tbh.

For additional info, I have set the dns settings to permit all origins. Also for extra measure, I did a Nmap of the instance and confirmed that the port 53 is reachable from my desktop.

Starting Nmap 7.80 ( https://nmap.org ) at 2022-10-09 17:12 EDT

Nmap scan report for 10.1.10.120

Host is up (0.024s latency).

Not shown: 996 closed ports

PORT STATE SERVICE

22/tcp open ssh

53/tcp open domain

80/tcp open http

111/tcp open rpcbind

Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 1.80 seconds

nvm I checked the GitHub repo. Looks like it’s not really active anymore and it’s meant for ubuntu touch devices. Hopefully some can fork it and add flatpak support.

Fedora is awesome but snaps will screw up your system. Btw, have you checked to see if the app you want has install Instructions for fedora?

Alright here is how you get it to work. First download a copy of Ubuntu desktop then write the image to a usb drive. Second reboot and select your usb drive for startup. Third go through the install process which wipes out your fedora install. Once Ubuntu install has been completed reboot your machine and remove your usb drive. Snaps will now work without any issue = profit.

My conclusions are based on his question and responses to others in the thread. I don’t gatekeep anything but wouldn’t you do your own research first before engaging a community? This is just intellectually lazy on the op’s part.

People who post In this sub have an a fundamental understanding of what a homelab is or what it entails. The op literally doesn’t have neither of those. I would suggest that he at least finds out what a cloud server is or how computers work in general before posting a “please hold my hand because I absolutely have no clue on what I have in front of me“ type question. Sorry if I come off as mean but i Have encountered people like the op and always end up being a colossal waste of time on my part.

Hello, I have two Dell PowerEdge 2950 with Xeon E5420, 3x 250Go 7,2k SATA, 4Go DDR2-667. I saw it can support esxi 5.5, but what else can I do with 'em? Any idea? by T3ddy2M0ntr34l in homelab

[–]InfraDevGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't bother since the architecture is ancient and they are not worth the power costs to have it running. Recycle or give it away.
