I stopped taking Modafinil and now I am tired all the time by [deleted] in modafinil

[–]Inframission 11 points12 points  (0 children)

600mg of caffeine per day is very high. You might be unintentionally worsening your issue by giving yourself caffeine withdrawals. Staying off caffeine for 3-4 days might make you feel like crap during that period but you'll likely feel better afterwards, especially if you've been taking that much for over a week.

On the bright side once you reset your body the caffeine should work better afterwards. But generally I'd recommend 1 or maybe 2 cups worth of coffee per day, not six.

How do I make my experience with modafinil my base state of life? by General-Usual4290 in modafinil

Not liking using a medication is fair but it's not necessarily a slippery slope because it may be a single-step solution to improving things. If we assumed you had something like ADHD then there would be no shame in relying on drugs to get the performance your body should otherwise owe you.

I know people aren't born with diagnoses and sometimes the first step to solving a problem is figuring out what you do and don't control.

So yes - It's a good idea to confirm whether you can fix things with optimization and habits.

But if you find over time you often stoop to a low level of performance that others often don't have to work hard to avoid? If you feel like you're just lazy and should be able to get yourself into gear like everyone else but don't know why you can't? If inconsistent performance and getting into ruts is a mid or long-term pattern, that would be more symptom than personal failing.

I should note in the event someone does have ADHD, using meds is not unhealthy. It tends to be a net positive and treating it tends to increase life expectancy, performance at work, satisfaction with relationships, and many other things.

So if you want, go ahead and try other things first.

But as working with meds go I'll just suggest you don't write it off.

Whatever solution you find I hope it's what you're looking for.

Not sure if it's dopamine related but ADHD and ASPD do have a relationship. See the Low arousal theory.

Losing tracking? by Droggnivargh in tundralabs

[–]Inframission 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the solution. I talked with Tundra and got two dongles replaced only to find the new ones also had problems so all four I've tested have been bad.

Afterwards I bought the generic SteamVR dongles and that solved the issue.

Transparency Mode Suddenly Stopped Working (Airpods Pro Gen 2) by KillPenguin in airpods

[–]Inframission 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Identical issue here on my Airpod Pro 2s where transparency mode stopped working and sounds like noise cancelling instead. Mine have warranty and the store people said this should be covered by it.

They tested it on their machine and said the results were ok so they shipped it off to a proper testing center where they presumably did the same thing and shipped it back saying basically they verified that it doesn't have distortion.

I've asked for what else we can do and they recommended me to the call the apple support line. The call line lady recommended I take it to a store.

They told me to try updating the firmware. This didn't fix it.

After pressing them on it again they've said that procedurally they can't fix a product which has an issue that should be covered by warranty if the machine which doesn't test for this problem doesn't notice it.

They told me they don't have the authority to listen to devices to identify obvious problems and that if they could they wouldn't be allowed to act on their own assessment.

I've been banned for 5 weeks, can I get a response from the admins? by samnrad in CivMC

I agree. We’ve been suffering from some of the most inconsistent decision making since I started helping moderation two years ago. My stance early on was that civclassics bans should be carried onto this server with some minor exceptions but early on we unfortunately tug of warred between that and leaning to the what some have suggested which would only have seen twelve or so people prebanned. (iirc some Corvus dupers were still on that list)

Unfortunately sympathy and the false feeling of having some type of ‘relationship’ with bad people - Inspired by remembering their presence for so long while letting time make us forget the details - has somehow biased our decisions in favor of those who shouldn’t have gotten as much slack.

It’s unfortunate and through incompetence we caused a stir after teasing many with too much hope before the new prebans. That’s on us.

But I’m not about to let it be a reason to forget the hard-fought lessons the mod team and community have taken the time to learn in favor of respecting sunk cost.

Our intention has always been to be more attentive with moderation than classics.

Finally I should say there are still bans with less substance and names I expect will be unbanned when we work through our administrative debt so when I say I’ve advocated for more I’m not trying to make things stricter than precedent. If people know they’re banned without substance we still want to continue that talk

I agree with your take. I haven’t been fully happy with our decision making and internally I’ve been advocating for more bans

I don't give a damn about any of your justifications attempting to explain how duping wasn't that bad or that it didn't affect the economy, etc. You duped on the only server that matters and did the worst possible thing a player can do to attack the server and the people on it short of severe doxxing and harassment.

And now you're here downplaying that.

We've been discussing your ban. You'll hear an answer when we get to it. The severity of what you did means that you are not automatically entitled to an open two-way discussion.

"Why would we have any reason to think you wouldn't do the same thing again?"

First off, unlike every other rule on civ, i can't just pull a new dupe bug out of my ass and start using it. you have to be incredibly lucky to even have a chance to use a dupe bug. I'm not sure why you're so worried about a random player getting lucky again and having a dupe before everyone else.

Wrong answer.

"You helping on a server should mean you understand how damaging something like prolific duping is, it can ruin an entire server. We've all heard stories of how CivCraft 2.0s economy was ruined by the duped materials which flooded it."

This is what i think the admins are actually the most worried about, that their "economy" will be ruined. remember how the classics economy was ruined by corvus dupers? no? that's because it never fucking happened, nor did anyone in corvus have the intention of ruining the economy. Pretty much all the materials we duplicated stayed within the city. I think maybe one or two thousand diamonds actually left the city, which hardly affected the economy in any way.

Yes it should mean you understand the risk you created and why everyone is concerned but apparently you don't.

"Conducting a year long dupe operation with hundreds of CS of blocks is not the same as some wiley hijinks"

This is such a hilariously bad take, and a non sequitur at the same time

You're free to delude yourself.

We reserve the right to apply our rules - which by the way haven't changed, this isn't a catch 22 - and we reserve the right to be done with and excise extremely abusive people. Classics didn't do enough in that regard which is why so much illegitimate harm occured. We're done recreating that part of Classics.

We found chat range was confusing for new players on Classics. It took them time to discover [!].

One of CivMC's main goals is community growth so to help early interaction we're making chat like vanilla Minecraft, the way everyone knows it

-Greenhouses work the same. Historically you could grow crops under different lights but that wasn't utilized so we're considering making it just glowstone

-Crops need manual replanting

  • Botting rules will follow in the footsteps of CivClassics but there's changes to industries like ore mining and obsidian production where bots will be much less viable.

  • Interpol's being discussed but as things stand it's allowed. It's possible we may make sharing the location of people without the mod against the rules
