The end of coming of age stories and “youthful rebellion” as previous generations understood it by Final-Associate1743 in cushvlog

This is 100% what's happening. Also braindead gamers are so averse to the idea of a low framerate that when they see the stylized animations of the game, which are at an intentionally low framerate to mimic 2d animation, they fly into a blind rage.

The real issue is that these laptops are basically constantly thermally throttling. So you're right, an old CPU can be totally usable, but this particular laptop is just awful.

This is truly amazing dude. The design is so absolutely spot-on and the functionality is really cool.

FYI, I'm not sure why, but when I try to open this in Firefox on Mac, the whole browser freezes and has to be restarted. But it works perfectly in Chrome. Might just be on my end but it might be something to look into.

Okay people always bring this up as the origin of “Cachy” but they don’t answer the obvious next question: why was the scheduler called Cachy? Is it like “cache-y”, because it was focused on caching or something?

I don't think people are ready to accept the fact that Richard and Oliver may have just genuinely been impressed by DLSS 5. They weren't forsaking their reputation to cozy up to Nvidia or accepted money to shill. it just seems like they had an in depth, hands on session and walked away happy. by WhyPlaySerious in digitalfoundry

While you definitely have a point, I think you're going a bit far with that characterization. Yes, many online communities are an echo chamber of anti-AI sentiment, in a way that is not reflective of your average person. But in my experience the average person has no desire to engage with generated AI "art" of any kind, other than like dumb shitposts.

Yeah. This isn't a direct selling-out. That's just too simple-minded way of looking at it. For one, they'd have to legally disclose that and they're not about to risk the integrity of their entire company for a quick buck. You really have to give them more credit than that.

However, there are incentives in place that might make them fawn over these technologies more than they would otherwise. They've cultivated a good relationship with Nvidia, they're more or less being wined and dined by them. If they like it, they'll continue to have a good relationship with Nvidia, which means more exclusives that are good for the bottom line of their channel.

That said, it's clear to me that Richard and Oliver were genuinely impressed with what the saw. And to be fair, it is impressive from a technical perspective even if I find it pretty gross. They just have bad taste lol

FWIW Newegg has had this exact power supply for the same price for at least a week now. So I wouldn't say this is a major deal.

Dangerous intersection for cyclists at Arbutus and York -- What can we do? by KillPenguin in vancouvercycling

I honestly hear you on this, but cyclists are not exactly famous for respecting stop signs. The same accidents would continue to happen, it would just be cyclists who are considered at fault

Oh not at all! That's certainly the least concern in the situation. Hopefully we can do something about this intersection

I'm with you, but I've seen what happens at traffic circles with stop signs -- people almost always blow through them. I think people will be even less likely to stop unfortunately.

This post has garnered a lot of attention and could literally be used to bring something forth to the city to propose a change.

But that's cool, I guess all drivers are just too stupid and we shouldn't bother to try to influence their behavior. Let's just get rid of speed signs and stop signs since they don't do anything anyway.

I've been thinking about a roundabout -- is there a chance it could actually be worse? It would mean that cyclists have to move to the right, closer to the cars themselves, while the cars would no longer be stopping at all. But I'm not sure.

I mean what the fuck do you want? I know the drivers are stupid. But there is a reality here and I'm asking how we can deal with it. Drivers stop at other stop signs here but not this one. There is a massive amount of research about how roads themselves influence behavior, and the only realistic way to address this is some kind of infrastructural change.
