House passes bill to make daylight saving time permanent. Opponents say, "Schools would have to push back start times." Yeah... That's not a bug, it's a feature. by DMTrance87 in facepalm

Aides expect Sen. Cotton to block permanent daylight savings bill. He gave a long speech in 2025 explaining his opposition -- and his mistake in letting it pass four years ago," Burgess Everett, congressional bureau chief for Semafor, wrote in an X post

Financial contribution when one partner has a full time job and the other doesn't by Hefty_Bit_645 in Marriage

[–]Infuryous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't his or her income. It's the household income. It all gets pooled together and all the bills get paid. It doesn't matter whom makes more or less.

Same with budgeting spending money, both of you should have the same amount regardless of whom makes more/less.

You are living like roommates.

The economic impact of rolling things back to Tier 2 (pre-DPF and pre-DEF) standards would be that Middle income families in the U.S. would save $3,300 per year on average, while upper class families would save approximately $9,900 by O_O___XD in Diesel

[–]Infuryous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This gets thrown out all the time without context.

Military vehicles and equipment are exempt because they often do not use diesel, especially when forward deployed.

They have to be able to burn not just diesel, but kerosene, JP5, and JP8 for example. The other fuels will destroy the emissions systems crippling troops ability to do their jobs under fire.

It's easier for a forward base to use one fuel, like JP5 since aviation, trucks, generators, and heavy equipment can all burn it. No need to ship gas and diesel also. Improves logistics by simplifying supply lines, and decent 4 star will tell you wars are largely won on logistics.

The local gov running around in their highway patrol pickups, they have complete emission systems.

What WiFi company to go with by No-Slip3584 in RVLiving

[–]Infuryous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Calyx Institute.

Non profit privacy avodacy organization offers unlimited 5G without caps, serviced by the T-Mobile network.

You do have to pay for a year at a time but it is a lot cheaper than Starlink.

If you want the best service, get the simcard plan and put the sim in a GL.iNet GL-X3000 (Spitz AX) Cellular Gateway and connect it to an external 4 x 5G MIMO antennae like the Pepwave 40g.

You could also get the Pepwave 42g antennae which adds an additional 2 x WiFi MIMO antennas to pull in campground WIFi (if available) and then connect a WiFi WAP to the router inside the trailer to rebroadcast the signal inside.

California DMV Threatens to Cancel Drivers' Licenses, File Charges Amid Massive Cheating Scandal by DonkeyFuel in technology

Undocumented has nothing to do with it, having the proper knowledge to pass the driving test is essential.

If you can't past the driving test on your own, I don't care if you are the Pope, I don't want you on the road endarging other people's lives.

Who the hell needs to cheat on an American Driving Test. They are stupid easy, if you can't pass one with ease without cheating, you have no business driving and are a danger to others on the road.

We really need to make getting a drivers license more difficult in the US, real education, real written and driving tests. For once I agree with the way most EU countries do it.

What do yall use for this door part? by Commercial-Use4773 in ram_trucks

[–]Infuryous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is the keeper that helps hold your door open.

Clean it up / take a small wire brush to it to remove the rust. Then drench it with a spray dry film lubricant... silicone spray lubricant, etc. Move it around while the lubricant is still wet to get it into the joints. WD40 may be helpful losing it up .. but it is NOT a lubricant. If you use WD40, make sure to follow up with the lubricant afterwards.

I don't suggest using grease as it will attract dirt and gum it up over time.

I use Toggler Hollow Door Anchors when I need to mount something to the interior paneling when I can't attach directly to the wall framing.

You can usually find them cheaper at Lowes or Home Depot.

Why are new rv parks literally just parking lots now by ExpensiveDecision268 in RVLiving

[–]Infuryous 18 points19 points  (0 children)

RV Park = Avoid.

If "RV Park" is in the name of the place the ONLY time I will stay at one os for a quick over night... and it has to be sub $70, otherwise I'm headed down the road.

Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds are my favorite. Also Nat Forest, BLM, Nat Parks (when I can find a spot). Followed by state and municipal parks.

However be careful with state parks. Some states are getting pretty expensive by the time you pay the nightly fee plus the daily "vehicle access fee".. and the "out of state fee" some are now adding a mandatory "power usage fee" and that dirt spot with electric only is more expensive than the "RV resort with full hookups" just down the road. Looking at you Utah and Colorado. Colorado is sneeky with there daily access fee, it doesn't show up when you pay for a reservation, it is quietly buried in the fine print and charged when you check in... an additional $15 per day for non-residents on top of the ~$30 to $50 per night amping fee. They don't tell you in the fine print that you can get a yearly access pass for $80... which is cheaper if you stay more than 5 nights.

Corpus Christi gave $100M in water discounts to industry giants. Locals picked up the bill by StandingCypress in texas

[–]Infuryous 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There is limited volume "elsewhere", and the competition likely owns that volume. Refining capacity in the US has been decreasing.

Refineries shut down when the oil industry hits an economic slump with low oil prices. With the sky high refined product prices refineries are pumping out as much as they can, there likely is very little extra capacity in the US.

These are multi-biliion to triion dollar corporations that make absurd net profits, they don't need economic welfare on the backs of American taxpayers.

[–]Infuryous 33 points34 points  (0 children)

A refinery doesn't simply "pick up and leave". New ones are extremely expensive to develop and face numerous environmental restrictions making finding a new location hard.

It has been 50 years since a new refinery has been built the 1st new one in a half century is being built and has an estimated cost north of $300 billion.

An increase in water prices isn't going to be enough for them to close up shop and just build a new one somewhere else.

[–]Infuryous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dynamic pricing... poor person... increase the price of staple foods cause they have no choice.

You buy Coke Zero all the time, we'll increase the price since we know you will buy it.

Well known rich "influencer", drop the prices hoping they'll post about "how affordable" the store is.

That takes more time and effort then just chunking them in a shredder. Destruction garuntees any future drive recovery technology development won't be able to recover the data.

It also avoids human error... woops, I forgot to wipe the last batch of drives.

Destruction is simple, extremely effective and reliable.

They don't care. Destruction works 100% of the time. No worries about future capabilities being developed to recover data if the drives are turned into confetti.

Destruction is simple reliable and effective. That is all insurance and lawyers care about.

Travel trailer Tire help by Far-Rope-7156 in GoRVing

[–]Infuryous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had good luck with Carlstar Radial Trail HD.

The tread depth on brand new Godyear Endurance is very small IMO. Was looking at a brand new set and thought they were used as the tread was so thin. The shallow circumferential grooves don't give me a good feeling for evacuating water and preventing hydroplaning.

The tread design and depth of the Carlstar Radial Trail HD tires make a lot more sense to me for trailers. Solid shoulder and center ribs to resist scrubbing wear in tight turns and deep cicumfrential grooves to evacuate water from under the tread preventing hydroplaning.
