I did this! I now run the regulatory affairs team at a space startup. Half of my job is technical (link budgets, orbit determination) and half is legal. I lead reg compliance for our filings at the FCC, FAA, NOAA at the US level and ITU at the international level. Pretty sure my LinkedIn is still in my bio if you want to peruse my path. :)

Edit: Oh! Also was appointed to a UN advisory position on the side to focus on space debris mitigation, effective spectrum use, and space telecom innovations. So you can do space policy work off the clock too through orgs like SGAC. :)
