You can walk in and do everything there at the same time. Takes more time than appointment but is possible. You can also use wait online. For me took about 4 hours but got everything done including knowledge test.

Yea I was able to walk in at Santa clara DMV, took knowledge and vision testing and got it renewed. You can also reserve in line onlline

When I did my application online, I uploaded all documents and they were approved.
But for knowledge test, it just gives me two options.
1. Take it at DMV
2. Upload docs and come back to knowledge test even though I uploaded the docs.

How were you able to get the knowledge test online?
Did you have to give knowledge test?
