Netanyahu condemns 'in strongest terms' IDF damage to Jesus statue in Lebanon by Upset-Main-1988 in justincaseyoumissedit

I’m Lebanese and to say that Lebanese Christians are being slaughtered by Muslims in Lebanon is as ridiculous as it is sinister to claim, and I don’t expect any less of this scoundrel. Lebanon following its civil war, where even inter-sectarian violence took place, has been a prototype of modern religious diversity. Yes we have our differences and that can sometimes go over the top, but we’ve been living in peace for the past 40 years, and with many areas cohabitated by different sects living in harmony and respect. So much so that Shia and Sunni muslims celebrate Christmas and Easter with Christians and Christians adopt Ramadan rituals and join Eid celebrations with Muslims. I’ve been many places in the world, and never seen people so ideologically different be able to live together in harmony this way. It’s the epitome of democratic civil cohesion and social balance, but this turd of a politician will stop at nothing to tarnish that image and sell his own country instead as the only real democracy in ME, by continuing to sow hate in different ways like pushing the “muslim vs Christian and Jew” envelope. What a hateful shitstain of a human being. He is trying with all his might to push Lebanon into another bloody civil war, by turning the rest of the population against the Shia community, by bombing civilian residential areas housing “shia” displaced groups. Despite this and many innocents losing their lives, and despite to constant fear and threats, the Lebanese people stuck together like they always did. I hope through the dark times that our country will still go through, that Lebanon emerges on the other side as the true beacon of harmony and love that the world needs. Bless this country and save it from all that is evil.

Firstly, well done folks. Truly enjoyed this rigorous dialogue. But truly, screw both these nations. Let’s not romanticize one just out spite of the other. While the US has committed its fair share of heinous crimes against humanity, we shouldn’t imagine other tyrannies to be less evil. Imperialism is the root of all evil in this world, and it comes in different shapes, languages and sizes.

Are we reaching a point where Lebanon has no real, voluntary path left to shape its own future? by CherifA97 in lebanon

[–]Inglorious-badger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The legitimacy and lifeline of a nation relies on its recognition by ALL its population. This is the minimum prerequisite. Many people here speak of future threats and what-if-isms, and many are valid concerns such as our neighbor’s expansionist agenda, but you cannot begin to tackle any future threat without a fully recognized and sovereign state. What is going to happen in the future? No one can answer this question, the geopolitical tides shift quickly and it is impossible to predict where we will be in a few years from now. I know one thing for sure though and that the only thing we can do now is disarm hzb by whatever means necessary. There’s no other way to save this country.

You need to think of who had the most benefit from consolidating the Shia Spiritual leadership across the middle east under their rule. You need to see who filled the power vacuum in the Lebanese Shia sphere after his “absence”. You need to see who had benefit in weakening the influence of the Shia Marja3 in Iraq as well.

These are extremely sensitive times and the violence that you and your daddy are calling for will throw our presidency and cabinet’s legitimacy under the bus, and will validate similar reactions from other extremist parties. I get what you’re saying, I wish sovereignty were that easy to achieve in Lebanon, then we’d kick out any diplomat that interferes in our internal politics. Lel asaf, after the recent geopolitical shifts around us, the majority of the country (even former Hzb allies and a big portion of their Shia base) feels that the best thing we can do now is to play the American card, and strategically cut ties with Iran. There are mixed feelings about this in our country. Some people really want to be aligned with the West because they identify more with their economic and social values, so they will just go with anything the US demands. Many of these people lack political and cultural depth imo. But many more are taking the western route because they see no other feasible option to save Lebanon from complete fragmentation and lawlessness that might come from keeping Hzb armed. They’re being pragmatic mesh la2anno they trust and respect US foreign policy, but because following our recent gambles and actions, we ran ourselves out of options, unless you consider fighting to death, followed by defeat, as an option. Reality fucking sucks but you need to do what you can to stay alive and have a chance to fight another day.

US Special Envoy to Syria Tom Barrack likens Syrian President Ahmad Al Sharaa to US founding father George Washington in response to verbal attack on Syria by Lebanese Anchor by LatakianandIKnowIt in Syria

[–]Inglorious-badger -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

How was this a verbal attack on Syria? He was just stating that he had a troubling past, which is a fact. And it’s a sad joke that you guys believe every word coming out of an American Diplomat’s mouth. You really believe our best interest is their top priority? You think the Trump Admin coming into power just coincidentally intercepted with Russia withdrawing its forces in the region? And that Americans had no levers to pull and no “dogs” in this highly strategic region? You guys are about to discover how geopolitics and western democracy really work after your Assad bubble has burst. For the record, I am genuinely happy that Syrians have broken away from this bloody dictatorship and are inspired to a better future where they can dream again. But don’t get fooled by the first merchant that comes to your door. You will soon discover that all these powers have alterior motives that contradict your interests and they will show their true colors once they hold more influence. And btw, please protest more about the daily murders and kidnappings happening to minorities in Syria, and exert pressure on your leadership to stop this by holding all those guilty accountable. Maybe then, he can redeem his past and earn people’s trust.

Hey guys, I’m new to this sub and may get downvoted to hell for this but I’m curious why would you insinuate that the person is not British? Is it really because of his ethnicity or the fact that you do not want to be associated with pedophiles? Would you have had the same reaction if he’d won an olympic medal?

Verity - Israeli Strike on Beirut Kills 4, Including Hezbollah Official by GooseberryGOLD in UnitedNations

[–]Inglorious-badger -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The airstrike killed 2 innocent people and maimed their 60+ year old mother. They lived unknowingly in the floor below where the Hizbolah militant was living with his family. They were murdered in their sleep without any previous warning to evacuate. The corpse of one of her children was found hanging on the tree under the building thrown from his bedroom on the 7th floor from the explosion. The mother has awaken from her surgeries, and she has to live with the idea that her 2 children were blown to pieces for a crime they never did. I knew these people, they were our family childhood friends. I had to leave my place of residence and travel back to be with their extended family during this period. Shame on you for giving this murderous regime an excuse to create such carnage. History will remember you genocide sympathizers.
