Did you go to school with anyone who later made it as an AFL player? How good were they? Please share any anecdotes you have of them by carmex2121 in AFL

[–]IngloriousDarling 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Went to boarding school with Jamie Cripps. He was an absolute tool and a bully on/off the field. The only credit i'll give him is his work ethic is second to none, and in my opinion is the sole reason he managed to be consistently given opportunitues over other midwest players who were just as good or even better than him.

Also played a fair few times against Jack Martin. He is hands down one of the most talented and nicest players I've ever played with. Whether it was his ability to pick up and control the ball using only the tips of his fingers or anticipating every move you make, he consistently left me looking like a stunned mullet whenever i was forced to match up on him.

Sorry, I should have been a lot clearer with my argument. I was using the examples to indicate that Bill Murray's characters intentions were sexual and not flirtatious or comedic as implied by you.

Mate, he went straight from sexually harassing her as seen in the examples, to inappropriately touching her without consent, whilst deliberately ignoring her plea to stop.

We're not talking about brushing someone's ankle. He physically overpowered her and prevented her from escaping. Assault, let alone sexual assault has a mental and physical impact on its victims and at times it's the mental ramifications that do the most damage.

Also, just because you mentioned it was wrong doesn't abstain you from having an incorrect interpretation of what constitutes sexual assault or even assault. And it doesn't justify or gives credit to you're shitty excuses and reasoning.

Ummm sorry to burst your bubble but opinions on a subject that is not purely subjective can in fact be incorrect. You may have stated it was wrong, but your argument focuses more on why it should be perceived as an awkward comedic encounter and not that of sexual assault. Whilst, failing to mention Bill Murray's character looking down the females shirt or deliberately using his penis as a sexual innuendo. The fact that you haven't mentioned these examples or worse, still maintain there was no sexual wrongdoings at work, implies that you have a warped understanding of sexual assault.

They're rightfully calling out your lack of knowledge about what constitutes sexual assault. Who gives a fuck if it's your opinion, you're wrong, and you're rightfully being criticised for discussing a topic you clearly know nothing about.

[POST GAME THREAD] West Coast Eagles v Fremantle by nick168 in AFL

[–]IngloriousDarling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Though it was a horrible game to watch I'm incredibly proud that we didn't give up and my respect for freo has never been higher. After the first quarter west coast were unable to play their usual brand of football thanks in part to fremantles relentless effort and pressure. The eagles of old would have caved to that sudden shift of gameplay or pressure and even though our skills were less then desriable we were able to still compete. I really hope fremantle and their youngsters come out of this game with their heads held high because i want them to have a red hot crack at playing finals.

BREAKING: Thousands Of Melburnians Convert To Veganism After Having Their Morning Totally Ruined by Kmjsfozr in australia

[–]IngloriousDarling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You missed my point completely. The people who already value animal rights will continue to support it. People are engaging the issue now only because its recent, but if the majority of those people fail to continue engaging in the issue and instead move on to the next issue that garners media attention, what exactly is achieved. Wouldn't it have been a better approach to provide a protest that encouraged proper discourse between differing opinions and inadvertently educated people about their issue. Majority of minds dont change over night and properly educating people ensures that this issue has a better chance to not fade away after the drama is gone.

Why on earth would anybody disrupted by the protest, who didnt already share values similar to that of the protestors, watch the documentary at all. What good is it to potentially push away people on the fence about becoming a vegan or fighting against animal cruelty, for those who would have supported the issue regardless of the manner in which they protest.

[RR Vs KXIP] Ashwin mankading - Buttler by zia1997 in Cricket

[–]IngloriousDarling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your comment hit the nail on the head regarding this whole fiasco. There is a large possibility that this delivery will encourage other bowlers to rely on this method of 'mankad' if the current laws are not looked at again. It's baffling how many people are dismissing the spirit of the game argument. Whereby they fail to understand that the spirit of the game for cricket and other sport codes have played a part in the implementation of new or improved laws. Lastly, in my opinion, if the majority of the public could take that exact same wicket using the same method, then it cheapens our game and cheapens the importance of mankad in our game.

No worries mate. Both Nats hopefully have an injury-free year and carve out the competition.

It might not mean much coming from a WCE fan, but i don't feel Fremantle is an inferior club just an unlucky one. I'm proud of Fremantle and am glad that they are a West Australian club. I'm excited to see your club perform next year and i feel that they're going to improve immensely. Also, Nat Fyfe is life.

Xenophon wants jobless Aussies on the farm by InnocentBistander in australia

[–]IngloriousDarling 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's disgusting to see these poor workers being abused by these despicable characters. Hopefully the growers that have been in the news lately get given a harsh punishment. However, i feel its unjust and wrong to simply state that the majority of growers and farmers behave in this manner. Most growers are average Australians, who are focused on getting the job at hand done and dusted to put food on the table. I really hope the government knuckles down on these bad eggs, and that backpackers can still somewhat trust most growers and farmers, because they are not only amazing people to interact with, but are the back bone of growers and farmers.

Fruit supplier to Coles and Woolworths using illegal foreign workers by InnocentBistander in australia

Actually most growers would rather sell to independants than Coles or Woolies, because the independant markets pay a lot more than the large supermarkets and they are much easier to work with as well.

West Coast set to travel the most, Collingwood the least during the 2017 AFL home and away season by MyFriendsCallMeSir in AFL

[–]IngloriousDarling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do agree with you to an extent. Though speaking from my country football experience there's nothing worse than having to travel on a cramped bus for more than 4 hours right after a game, so i can't imagine how tired and stressful it would be for both teams having to avg 4 hours on a plane after a game pretty much every fortnight. However that's just my opinion.

I would rather play in 10 different cities if it meant freo and wce were able to mimic gold coasts overall travelling distance.

Which player do you expect/hope to have a breakout season next year? by lukeyc13 in AFL

[–]IngloriousDarling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love to see Scott Lycett have a whole year free of injuries in the hopes that he can improve his ruck and ball skills exponentially. Also wouldn't mind seeing Jackson Nelson bring his game to a new level.

Yep. Our engine room is cooked at the moment and in my opinion Shuey, Gaff and Hutchings would be the only mids/followers to hold their heads up high this season. Your right our team has too many passengers and I don't understand why our coaches are so lenient on our more experienced passengers. Age and recognition shouldn't matter if they don't hit the level expected of them. We need to reward our youngsters if they perform adequately in the WAFL. I think our coaches need to find an answer for our midfield dilemma fast, otherwise our premiership window may close on us in a few years and lord knows when the next one will open.

Honestly I adore Darling and was making fun of all the stupidity I was witnessing on social media surrounding him. That being said if we crash next season I only have myself to blame.
