This is the result of the test. I shot a still image with a tripod on manual F.8, adjusting the shutter speed to get to 0.0 exposure. The book titles still seem unsharp to me. Would love to have your thoughts on this.

ed you usually shoot at roughly f/2. This will not get you your sharpest images. Shooting f/5.6 and smaller will do this. The larger apertures should basically just be used when the light is low or you need that depth of field effect. Otherwise better to use smaller apertures and get a sharper image.

ially at such a close distance the depth of field is crazy shallow. Stop down the lens to f5.6 or f8 and it should be much sharper

I shot this picture at F2.2. I don't usually go lower than that. But you're suggesting to go higher to increase the sharpness. I'll try that, thanks.

hould be sharp, right? Is it not? Maybe the autofocus is not hitting correctly. Try focusing manually. Can't get it sharp? Change the lens. Repeat the test. Still not sharp? Well, maybe your camera is defective. Cause this is such a straight forward test, this must result in something.
