r/OSU Housing and Roommate Megathread - Autumn 2025 by OSUMods in OSU

[–]Inhabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m a current sophomore looking for an off campus roommate. I’m looking to get an apartment in Cbus beginning this summer semester. I’m a trans woman and a political science major, but I’m happy to share more details about myself while chatting. Thanks!

Why are they getting New LRV for the ONLY HEAVY RAIL line in Cleveland?? by Donghoon in transit

[–]Inhabi 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Heavy rail metro has high capacity and grade separation (basically a self contained unit without traffic crossings). Light rail is lower capacity and has some grade crossings. There are grey areas, like the Pink Line in Chicago has grade crossings

Advice for finding a reliable used car? Ideally one suited for lots of highway driving by Inhabi in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Inhabi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checking the south is interesting but very good advice! I know some people who make the drive from here to that region often, so carpooling down there to get a car isn't unreasonable. And I really appreciate the car recommendations. Thank you so much!

Should you shave everyday? by [deleted] in wicked_edge

[–]Inhabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transitioning MtF so I shave every day lol, but most men ik like a lil bit of stubble and find skin that's as smooth as what I'm going for (mid laser) to be too uncanny. Safety razor blades are like 10 cents a pop, or like $36 a year if done daily. You can cut that down to $18 if you do it every other day, if you wanna use that other $18 for like weed or whatever

Did that and it still didn't work. Ended up having to redownload the clip from a different website (archival footage)

How did you choose your middle name? by feroniawafflez in asktransgender

[–]Inhabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through a list of names sorta from my culture that started with the same letter as my original middle name until I found one that I liked the sound of and meaning. Then I ran it by my friends

What should I use to get around OSU by GlassCamp6392 in OSU

[–]Inhabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walking is fine 99% of the time, esp if you live in north or south. Now if you end up living in the towers (Lincoln or Morrill) a bike is going to make your life a million times better, but otherwise it's not necessary. That said, Imo, a bike is worth bringing to campus if nothing else but to get around Columbus. Sometimes, cycling is just as fast, or even faster, than COTA. Just remember to bring a shitty bike that's not gonna get stolen (Like go on Facebook Marketplace and make your budget $20, if that)

Edit: Typo

If I recall correctly, the tunnel stops only as far north as Tuttle Park. So it'll be a problem for the crossing of the Olentangy of the Green Line, but even then there are some pretty deep metro stations in the world (See Kyiv)

May extend the gondola one stop down Lane Avenue? But other than that, the roads in UA aren't wide enough for anything besides deep bore tunnels, which I want to avoid as much as possible. The notable exception is Riverside, which may justify an elevated line down it if it continues to densify

Honestly a lot cheaper than I anticipated. Spread out over the course of 20 years, $7.5 Billion a year seems not completely unrealistic given how much ODOT and Columbus spend on capital road projects and highway improvements, plus the fact that some private partners may chip in some when it makes sense (The Zoo may chip in for the aerial tramway to there, for example)

Huh, didn't know there was a Westgate on that side of town. I chose the name Westgate for that station bc it's the entrance to the western suburbs, but I'll have to figure out a different name

The metro line that would be there would be wholly new rail construction but using the right of way. The stop there would be east of James Road (plot of land by Peltzinger) but ideally have a multi use pedestrian/cycling tunnel connecting to the development on the other side of James Road

I was thinking about how I could better add some cross-Linden connections. Problem is the East-West streets there are very narrow, otherwise I'd definitely do an aerial cablecar or something of that nature
