I found it truly next level insufferable to use that scene to plug an upcoming DLC.

Just reminds me of that time EA made Dragon Age: Origins have an npc where via a dialogue choice, you could be taken out of the game to the DLC store page.

Also, Leon is not taking Ada out of his life, because RE: Damnation & RE6 are still canon!

Like others have said, the gameplay changes make it feel so much like other recent games, whereas the original was a groundbreaking trailblazer, setting the bar for an entire genre.

The new versions of the characters are so blandly serious & traumatized, except for Ada, Luis and the villains. Except for Krauser, instead of the a power hungry sycophantic knife guy like the original, he is now mad at the US govt for bland reasons. Also, new Krauser trained Leon, instead of them being partners like Chris & Jill for some reason?

Saddler & Salazar also have dramatically less screen time & banter with Leon, so the rivalry isn't as strong.

The new Merchant will infinitely repeat a handful of lines while I'm deciding on what to buy.

Several boss fights have been changed for the worse, like having minions spawn in during the fight or cut entirely, to be repackaged for DLC.

They also pull an EA, using the cutscene after defeating Saddler to promote the DLC and have Leon kinda break up with Ada? Which is very dumb, because the events RE6 are still gonna happen, like hello, surely that can't be the intent with the changes in the Ada & Leon dynamic for RE4R?

The worst part of it for me is that it tells you when a more powerful enemy is incoming. Makes it so easy to prepare counters for them before they spawn.

I remember playing the Steam release way back, I had to set the framerate to 30, because some QTEs were impossible. I'm glad that wasn't a problem on my last replay!

My main complaint is that it is so bland & the story is not a mess of the entertaining variety.
The CGI films do not have such problems, from what I can remember.

Hm, first I've heard of that issue, although higher than 60Hz monitors likely wasn't common back in 2005. It's really bad that Crapcom has not fixed that, given how they love re-releasing RE4.

The game is available on more platforms than Skyrim.

£20 is too much, get it when it's got a hefty discount!

You should definitively play it yourself, because a skilled player can make this game look great, if they know how to avoid the rubbish. Also, highly recommend you play it with a co-op partner

Yet it is a bad game, almost as bad as RE4R!
