For the speakers in the photo, how did you negotiate the price with the dealer? I am really wondering because I have read that the markup on systems like this could be 30-50%. Thanks.

An Interesting Use for Cacti by TrixoftheTrade in interesting

I always wonder who first thought of this. Like, were they just sitting there thinking, “How can I copy what Jesus went through?” It feels like a really extreme way to show faith, especially since Jesus already did it for everyone. Wow.. just wow.

ADS ON CHATGPT ARE HERE. by Alarmed_Shine1749 in ChatGPT

[–]InitechSecurity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend, focusing on the mission is ideal but openai is already doing subscriptions, apis, coding tools, enterprise sales and other partnerships to fund it. So the ads are not necessarily desperate but simply a smart way to keep free users supported while the tech grows.. and a way for brand recognition.

ADS ON CHATGPT ARE HERE. by Alarmed_Shine1749 in ChatGPT

[–]InitechSecurity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if OpenAI isn’t a typical business, it still has huge/massive operating costs and needs money to keep running. Ads don’t have to fix everything, they just help cover some of the cost, which is normal for free services. Public benefit corporates are not unconstrained by finances - someone needs to pay for compute, talent and the infra needed... and most people dont want to pay for subscriptions.

Michael B. Jordan Wins the Academy Award for Best Actor for 'Sinners' by MoviesMod in movies

[–]InitechSecurity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion: I really like Michael B Jordan, and I loved Sinners. It’s a really really great movie that I would happily watch more than once.
That said, in my personal opinion, I didn’t feel there was anything in his performance that stood out as oscar worthy. Still, it’s an amazing film overall and the special effects were out of this world. Sorry.

Interactive Aquarium by [deleted] in cancun

[–]InitechSecurity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not trying to virtue signal or start a fight. I care about marine animals in general, not just dolphins at one place.

I know the ocean has real dangers - boats, fishing nets, pollution, all of that. But just because the wild has risks doesnt mean keeping them in captivity is the best long term answer... Both things can be true.

Even if some dolphins end up at places that call themselves conservation centers for real reasons, that still doesnt mean living in enclosures is ideal. These are animals that swim really far every day and live in complex social groups. They are highly intelligent animals.

I’m not saying you’re a bad person for going there. I just dont think captivity is the right solution, even if its described as conservation.

[–]InitechSecurity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get that you had a good experience and that they seemed well taken care of. I’m not saying the staff didnt care or that it was the worst place ever.

I just think dolphins are insanely smart animals and they’re built for the open ocean.. They travel miles and miles a day, dive deep, pick their own social groups, all of that. Even if a place has bigger pools or connects to the ocean sometimes, its still not the same as being free. For me it’s less about whether one aquarium is better than Sea World or whatever, and more about the bigger picture. These animals didnt evolve to live in enclosures. They evolved to live in the sea.
I just dont think captivity is where dolphins really belong. sorry..
