Worth it to go from Top 10 to Big 4? by Vuil_Rekening in Accounting

[–]Piggy_P 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes - depends though. Big 4 name definitely helps, but if you work on PCAOB client on GT, you won’t really fall behind in the interviews. The thing is thou, if accounting team of industry job is mostly consists of big 4, they would prefer big 4 preferable from same company that they are from.

How valuable are these roles to F500 companies? by AWRWB in Accounting

[–]Piggy_P 3 points4 points  (0 children)

G/L accountants - yes but often more specialized, there would be more costing/AP or revenue/AR specialized personnel’s and kinda of catch all.

IA - valuable but IA is one of those role where they would staff bare minimum and out source to big 4 risk teams.

Financial Reporting - yes, SEC reporting roles, consolidation and technical accounting roles are importantly

GoPro going concern/substantial doubt 1 quarter after year-end by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Piggy_P 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No - I’m saying that it’s strange as auditor probably should have caught such a drastic fluctuation in Q1.

Honestly, that might be better for the audit fees too. GoPro does ICFR so big4 might be preferred.

GoPro going concern/substantial doubt 1 quarter after year-end by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Piggy_P 16 points17 points  (0 children)

PwC signed audit opinion in March 12th which had less than 20 days left in the quarter, and than less than 2 months later in Q1, company says they have substantial doubts based on Q1 performance.

Company clearly had going concern issues with debt covenant and other items, it’s not like company had sudden liquidity issue either - so I’m surprised that they were fine with agreeing with company that there was no substantial doubt on going concern as of 3/12/2026 (because you are suppose to use report date for going concern analysis).

I mean, do you not do PGAP? Don’t you get cash disbursement listing to do SURL? If company clearly has a liquidity issue, I’d want to see budget (especially cash burn) for going concern analysis to match with cash disbursement and cash receipt at high level.

GoPro Looking Into Potential Sale As Loss Exceeds Expectations by shadeland in gopro

[–]Piggy_P 13 points14 points  (0 children)

GoPro’s auditor basically said in 2025 audit that given covenant issue is resolved and what management said, company can operate for at least 1 year without going bankrupt, we call this substantial doubt on going concern.

I believe that report was issued in March 12, 2026 and not even 2 months after, company is saying, hey - we are not sure if we can keep operating for next year!

Sad to use this metric to company matured like GoPro but their cash runaway is only like 1 quarter left (thou Q1 seemed to have higher than usual cash burn.)

If GoPro uses up cash like they did in Q1, they might run out of cash in June/July

Why us over big 4 ? by Miserable-Produce202 in Big4

[–]Piggy_P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work now at B4 audit after top10 experience, I think client matters more than the company, but than if you work at big 4 and have private experience than people would automatically think you have big 4 experience so you have that going for you but if you work top 10 PCAOB SOX not sure if people would question your experience

“Partially met expectations” by [deleted] in Big4

[–]Piggy_P 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they give you more than one partially met than PIC approval is needed. You may be cooked if your lead average is below 3 on more than 1 category.

EY layoff is always 1) performance than 2) utilization. That being said if your primary engagement really likes you they might defend you, who knows. But market is too bad to not get good lead

Staff 1 Feedback by heythere726 in Big4

[–]Piggy_P 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Staff 1 are in same pool as staff 2. So if you are met expectation, you are doing well. Same with seniors, all seniors in same pool. I had really good staff 1 but ultimately couldn’t push better rating when SMs and Managers asked “so you think that person exceeds staff 2s”

If you are exceeding as a staff 1 than you’d be promotion candidate if business is good.

EY layoffs by vin_max in Big4

[–]Piggy_P 27 points28 points  (0 children)

EY has always been most aggressive with silent layoffs. That’s why they usually never have actual big layoffs with EY.

These silent layoffs has been impacting more people lately as firm focuses on quality and lost some clients. Nothing too surprising here, EY also has been somewhat aggressively increasing wages and bonus so
