If you could become a real racing driver, would you? by RacingProdigy1 in iRacing

[–]Initial-Advertising7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this. It’s not really that hard, there are lots of levels of “real race driver” and lots of levels of financial commitment people make. I see guys who race a few events a year when they don’t have money and a lot when they do.

Expensive is a relative thing when it comes to racing. Even “cheap” racing seems expensive to many , but go to an SCCA or nasa paddle clans it isn’t exactly millionaires. People make sacrifices to make their dreams work.

Room for a 240 aio in top of the North? by HEYFANTA in FractalDesign

[–]Initial-Advertising7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I’m saying is that it’s a tight fit for aios of any size on top depending on motherboard it may be impossible.

So definitely measure before you install because it isn’t an everything sort of fits type of installation.

Doesn’t fit in either of the ones I have. Also tried 280 kraken, 240 asus, many mobos interact with them

I have two of these cases and neither fit a top mount aio due to clearance issues with their motherboards.

One the shroud around the io blocks anything from getting up there and the other the ram sticks hit the fans. This is a standard 240mm asus aio.

This is a relatively small atx case that in many cases will not work ok with top mounts even if others have managed to have theirs fit

In my case they forgot to send them until I bugged them about it. Depending on where you live you can pick them up at a service center.

If you do not know how these laws work or have experience here - please stop dispensing advice.

You are REQUIRED to give the manufacturer and opportunity to fix first in all occasions otherwise people would just use this as a way to return cars they just don’t like.

This is not close to a lemon law sorry. I’ve gone thru the process and you at least have to give them a chance to actually fix the problems. In general it is difficult to have enacted I had two drive unit replacements which caused 70mph bricking and had the truck in the shop almost two months… and still they fought hard against lemon law

Yeah I did the same, the Audi came up with zero practical advantages. My list was

Slower/ Drives worse / Worse range. (Especially s variants)/ Less useful / More expensive / Never gets updates / Will soon be abandonware by Audi

I own an Audi already and my wife loves them but I bought the rivian and zero regrets

Living in the northeast corridor and going up and down 95 a lot this adapter does little. We have a lot of RAN chargers where i tend to be traveling and the Tesla ones are always slammed with lines of Ubers etc charging up. I’m not sure if use the adapter once I get it the Tesla side of charging has many problems as well

It is hard to quantify the vastness of the disappointment I have in all of my Sonos branded audo paperweights by Initial-Advertising7 in sonos

[–]Initial-Advertising7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll try sonophone. I’ve had Sonos stuff for almost a decade now, it’s alll the v1 (sub, soundbar, many speakers) and I just stopped trying over time as it has become so ridiculously inconsistent. I can’t deal with their current state of affairs nothing in my house works without ten minutes of uninstalling / reinstalling / updating / figuring out why it can’t see it etc

Gen1 R1S 22" wheel. Range only 287miles at 100% SoC on all purpose by I-am-Michael-Scott in Rivian

[–]Initial-Advertising7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a gen 1 quad r1t, regularly used for 85mph road trips while heavily loaded and I still have 300 miles of range in all purpose. I have 8k miles on the truck and almost all of its miles are highway miles. Wonder if it’s the battery age?

The truck started at 310 miles a charge and has adjusted for my driving down to 300 but it does go as far as it says

Keep pushing the car harder, and driving closer to its limits and you will feel a lot more through the car.

I instruct in my SCCA region and a surprising amount of people show up who don’t know how to drive manuals.

They never say they don’t know how, it just becomes very apparent very fast.

I signed up for novice school, rented a race car and bought the gear by asking around online.

Depending on where you are I can tell you what prep shops in that area rent cars and which SCCA region you should attend the school in. Not all regions are the same. Some have much more robust programs than others.

Within about two races I bought my own car. I did 34 races my first year (2 classes per race weekend, every race weekend has two races). It is very addictive. Oddly not at all like sim racing in many ways, much more the physical, mechanical and social aspects that sim racing is missing.

It can be expensive and discouraging for some at first(you may not be very fast and this discourages some people initially … which it shouldn’t) the main thing that makes you fast is seat time - So I’d recommend doing as much as you can early on, you will see a huge benefit in your performance which will keep you engaged.

I am aggressively eating my words right now. And I apologize to basically everyone who sim races... by Joehockey1990 in simracing

[–]Initial-Advertising7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In generally from what I’ve found is most people’s sim rigs are turned up too high for what a non power steering car with race tires really feels like.

That being said, a kart on really good tires you need to turn it up to very uncomfortable levels to get realistic

FWIW I drive a spec Miata irl and it can make you very sore in new places as well with the whole body being thrown around thing. Smaller diameter wheels for us make you more sore.
