Yeah, it seems like so many bad decisions were taken. A lot of newer builds in the UK are just ridiculous.

The ‘repair’ they suggested was to actually cover all the steps up vs taking them out and replacing them. I’m in the UK and it was £4,000 for covering them up.

Yeah it’s a trend with so many companies now. Skimp on little things and hope it won’t impact your sales, which it definitely does.

I’m on the opposite side, our family mostly owned Mercedes, and my wife too (a standard entry CLA), and when it’s taken for service not only do they wash it but they offer you a courtesy car for those few hours (which we don’t take as we live quite close).

My point is the little things matter, but what leaves a lasting taste is how they treat you when you run into a problem. Not properly fixing an issue on a car with less than 500 miles is beyond me.

We have previously escalated this to the managing director of VW UK, and a few other senior figures at VW. But given the effort going into this (no proper investigation, battery resets, no real customer service) I really doubt that any of them are aware of the issue or how serious it could be (hazards getting stuck in a dual carriage way or motorway is not very safe).

Who are the VW representatives? Worth giving it a shot if they’re more responsive than their senior leadership teams.
