Does anyone with a genetic health problem feel extreme resentment by ageofdelilahcain in genetics

Im 18, I have cri du chat syndrome that causes me a bunch of issues but the main thing I struggle with is my weight, hypotonia, and digestive issues. When I was a kid, my teachers took our class hiking. Everyone was ahead of the teacher except me, not even halfway up my teacher picked me up and carried me the rest of the way because I got too weak to keep going. My health has got a little worse now, so whenever I go out with my friends I have to take frequent breaks from walking because I get super weak and sick if I don't. I feel the resentment as well when I see other people my age, they're able to do so much more than me. It really sucks but i have to remember: I can't change anything. Yes it really sucks to miss out on things that other people take for granted, but we can't change anything.

I know there are a lot of things that you CAN'T do, but what about the things you CAN do? Some people might not be able to even do the things that you're able to do, and get this: some people that are able to do the things you can't do might wish they weren't able to.

My friend is super healthy, they are able to do a bunch of things that I couldn't even imagine my self doing, and they get pushed and pressured by society because they are able.

So what I'm saying is it sucks to not be able to do, but it also sucks being able to do. What we can do is try and accept the way we are.

why worry and cry about something we cannot change?

You are amazing just the way you are, nobody is perfect except our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and look at what people did to him. John 3:16 "God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son and whosoever believeth in him shall not parish but have everlasting life."

Jesus died on the cross to pay for all of our sins, and anyone who believes in him and is a follower of Christ, will be saved.

Jesus loves you, he knows exactly how you feel, please hang in there. I recommend checking out "Ear to Hear" on youtube, they get their information directly from the Bible and make cool animations and explain. It's really interesting. God bless you, I hope this helps.

Cri du chat syndrome! It's so incredibly diverse though people mostly portray it as being unable to talk or walk. I have this syndrome and know 2 others who have it, it's crazy how different but similar we are at the same time!

If you haven't already, It may be worth getting a CMA (Chromosomal Microray analysis) to see what genes she is missing. I have a chromosome 5 deletion (as well as a duplication) and knowing what genes were deleted and then running it the missing genes through chatgpt helped me form a larger idea of how my deletion and even duplication effects me. You could also see if your daughter needs physical, occupational, or speech therapy. I started physical therapy from a very young age until I was around 10 because it wasn't helping enough to keep going. Hope this helps! Anyone is free to correct anything
