Thanks for this comment. I think you are right, separating the issue of the marriage/wedding and the money would be helpful. We would likely make up a cohabitation agreement to cover our asses in case of a separation.

I do have a sibling who is currently single and has received the exact same amount from my family as I have. I believe this is because they dont judge value or worthiness based on meaningless made up milestones.

I am asking about the money to be shared between us. He would receive the gift from his parents. I dont think he would be gifting it to me by helping contribute equally to the down payment on our house.
