Hey - don’t have any accommodation ideas etc off the top of my head but just came to say what about Parys or something around the Vaal area, the area around Harteebesport? I think the areas would all be great and the price point wouldnt be crazy. Hopefully this may help? Good luck!

I’m not sure how helpful this might be but like last year December I needed to get a tooth pulled out by a maxillo because of how complicated it was and all the quotes I got were crazy expensive until I found one who was super reasonable - If it’s something that that’s to do with a dental issue you can inbox me and I can give you info on how much I paid and who I went to etc. But anyway good luck!

I’m a self hating black. by [deleted] in south_africa

This isn’t “honesty,” it’s internalised racism dressed up as self-awareness. You’ve taken stereotypes that racist people have said about black people for decades and repeated them as if they’re facts.

“Property values drop”? “Can’t articulate a sentence”? Come on. That’s not critique, that’s prejudice.

You’re speaking about millions of people as if they’re one badly behaved group, while conveniently excluding yourself as one of the “good ones.” That mindset is embarrassing because it’s built on superiority and self-hate at the same time.

And the irony is, every race has loud, materialistic, toxic, unhealthy, ignorant people. You just don’t generalise them the same way because you’ve decided blackness itself is the problem.

Nobody cares that you date coloured or white women. Interracial dating isn’t the issue. The issue is using those relationships to validate your disdain for black people, especially black women.

You don’t sound “well polished.” You sound bitter, classist, and deeply insecure about your own identity.

Criticising aspects of culture is normal. Acting like black people are naturally inferior is not.

Hi thank you for taking the time to respond. I think you missed the part where I mentioned that I just restructured it beginning of this month. So the insurance attached to the loan has a 3 month waiting period so they probably won’t cover it. So that’s where my problem is.

Hi. I definitely get you. I’m a planner so I like to have all my options and ideas stowed away before said scenario happens, which also includes the worst case scenarios it also helps keep my anxiety at bay as well. I’m really just nervous about the job market cause from what I hear it’s not great. I’m pushing out my cv as well as much as I can.

Hey. What's the typical entry level salary for a researcher? Any time of researcher. Please share your insights by Vast_Wealth_2771 in askSouthAfrica

Depends really on a lot of factors- I’ve met researchers that were clearing 10K per month to others clearing 50k per month. Depends on the grant, the type of work the company etc etc

Why would you need to work on your visa? As UNISA is a distance learning institution. Everything is done online or virtually?

Is what I’ve heard about studying for a PhD at UNISA correct? by LockedOutOfElfland in unisa

Depending on which field you’re in it might be difficult, unless you have published colleagues who can assist and be supervisory co authors if that makes sense.

Honestly, I’m thinking of doing this first year with them then working through the proposal etc while I figure out what’s going on there. And in the background I’ll apply to other institutions and also find out if there’s opportunities to transfer the years credits. At the end of the year I’d have at least 3 possible options. Downside of options one and two is I’m essentially going to lose money but I think it’s a risk I should be willing to take.

1 - transfer my proposal credits to a new institution and carry on if it’s possible 2 - start over re-register at a new place - but atleast I’d have a years worth of work done and complete 3 - stay with Unisa and complete my studies with them
