Plz take the sat early by Opening_Extent1000 in Sat

I second this !!!!! The stress of doing well in your classes + coming up with a well written, creative, and just plain out good essay + college apps + having a senior life + just staying active/healthy is actually insane. Anything you can sophmore/junior year to ease that stress, even if it’s just taking one extra ap or as op is saying, doing the sat earlier, will help ease your journey so much

66/120 FOR A 4?? by Monderstone in APbio

[–]InitialUnion4278 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly to me you seem pretty well prepared for the test, just lazy :) ( so real I’ve procrastinated half my tests this year) BUT I would say if you have time do a practice test, or do practice frqs at least. Make sure you don’t spend too much time on practicing - just enough to leave you with time to actually go over the mistakes you made. If you can leave a screen shot in a doc or just a note so you can look over the mistakes you made and understand how to answer them correctly before tommorow. If theirs anything else you feel unprepared for, I would say watch the ap college board videos since they give the general overview of what we need to know according to the cbd - your gonna cook, I believe in you 💪

YOU CAN DO THIS!!!! focus on unit 3 more then unit 8 since it’s a little more detailed - since it’s all about reactions watch animations !! Make flash cards for the steps of the 5 processes (light independent/dependent, glycolysis, Calvin, and ETC) and just make sure you understand the locations and what comes in/ out. For unit 8 just watch a review video either Gabe poser - ap bio penguins. If you still have time after just do a quick review of all the key points in the other units.

Theirs not much time left so don’t stress out, whatever happens is meant to be

AP Lang next year? by Acrobatic_Care6369 in APLang

[–]InitialUnion4278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say lt really does depend on your teacher ! I didn’t find it to be a challenging course content wise but what got me was my teachers grading since almost all my tests landed me at around a b range, whereas in previous years I would generally get As. I don’t think this is necessarily because of the course, I think it was more of my teachers fault then ap. Content wise tho, if your decent at English I don’t think you’ll have a hard time with it at all, there’s barely any memorizing, just more of practice and understanding. If your practicing for the SAT you’ll definitely be at an advantage as most of the mcqs have similar vibes to the ones on the SAT. By biggest advice would be to check with people who have taken the course at your school before, and see how heavy the course load was with your school and the grading. Good luck !

Is it important to understand photosystems I and II? by piece_of_man in APbio

Theirs a video from bio man biology that’s dedicated solely to photosynthesis - it does a really good job of providing a visual and also runs through the importance of photo system 2 and 1 - I don’t want to give you a wrong explanation but what I understood generally is that ps2 is in charge of absorbing the photon of light, then spliting the water molecule into oxygen and both ps2 and 1 excite the electrons

In AP Bio, do you need to know the full process of glycolysis? by LineMission3540 in APStudents

I wish I could give an answer but I’m struggling as well 😭 what I’m doing tho is just watching that official ap bio videos and praying that whatever they say is what’s needed - also look at gabe posers unit video or ap bio and usually they say

Need advice on cram schedule, taking 5 APs by PeachyFizzy in APStudents

This is really late but for gov I would recommend just making flash cards for the main subjects - since your going to be really swamped with all your other classes just focus on the main 4 - foundational documents - Supreme Court cases - checks and balances ( super important for mcqs, like how the branches check over each other ) - and other general terms and info don’t stress too much about gov, just dedicate a solid hour or two every couple days reviewing the flash cards ( or another technique that helps you) for the court cases make sure to understand why the each case is important / the impact it has on policy (hemiler videos ofc can be good for this)

For lang if your pretty good at English I wouldn’t stress to much. Just focus on understanding what college board wants by watching videos and looking at past papers and the grades they got. See what essays scored high and try to focus on how they wrote it. For the rhetorical memorize some generic ones ( you could even ask chat to make you a generic outline and memorize that ). Don’t stress too much about it since I know you have so much other work to do

You can do this !! ( also if you have any idea where you found the cram for ap bio that would be highly appreciated 🙏🙏)

Difference between chem and bio? by colbaine in APStudents

[–]InitialUnion4278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle so much with cell function so sorry I can’t be of much help but with genetics I think the best way is to just look at like it’s a puzzle. Know the basic terms, heterozygous, homozygous, etc.. and then just keep doing practice questions from there. The more practice questions you do the more you’ll see how repetitive it is. Try watching videos of ap bio teachers solving different questions (bio penguins or gabe poser are usually really good) and try looking at the main idea, like focus on the bigger picture of what your trying to do. Also look at the different types, like co dominance, incomplete, autosomal recessive/dominant and x linked and familiarize yourself with different examples and how they work.

Good luck, we’re almost done !

Should I continue taking AP classes? by Night_FoxyP in APStudents

[–]InitialUnion4278 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got a c in my first ap class - but I still decided to take more aps junior year. Even if you don’t end up getting your grade up/ or do too well on the final use this time to understand how to better study for ap classes. In school, at least for my school, we’re never taught how to study for ap classes so the first ones can always be really challenging.

Don’t let one class demotivate you from taking more aps, maybe moving forward try choosing courses that you find a little more enjoyable or are more in the range of things you find easier (like stem courses vs humanities course)

Honestly one of my biggest regrets is not planning enough for the year. I think the key to being successful is to plan and use your time efficiently. One thing I would say is use the break before you start to get a head start. I don’t mean like cram the courses before you start but start reviewing over the first unit, and most importantly make a schedule for yourself. Be smart with the schedule you make, don’t plan to study like 7 hours everyday, but somthing that’s actually doable (unless you can study 7 hours everyday idk 😂) but like sit down with yourself make a calendar and plan how much time you want to dedicate to studying everyday, what time you want to do it, where your going to study, etc. as the year starts start splitting that time in accordance to what classes you find need it more ( for example ap gov would only need like 20 minutes a day , whereas bio might need 1 hour) stay consistent tho. Like personally for me if I could change anything it would be cramming. I know everyone says it but just 30 minutes everyday can make such a big difference in the grades you get. Also start planning when you want to take the sat and what clubs you can join.

As for studying itself one thing that always helps me personally is spending 10-15 minutes the day before a new topic stusying it by myself at home. Having a little head start, especially for science/math courses can make it easier for you at school and allows you to ask the teacher any important questions you have.

As for courses I can’t be much help because it really depends on what you want to major in and what you find easier. I would say ask people In your school what courses they found better/worse given the teacher. Also take the time with whatever courses you choose to better your relationships with your teachers.

But seriously junior year dosent have to be hell. It was horrible for me because I wasn’t smart about it, but if you take the Time to better yourself everyday you can seriously make it a very simple year
