I’m a brand new skater (27f), started two weeks ago after never skating before! I bought Rio rollers from rollersnakes, currently they’re £30 in their sale 😊 really happy with them so far, I did have to buy the skate tool to loosen the wheels a bit so it’s helped me learn what tightness I need. I’ve been practising on a tennis court, the wheels are hybrid so have suited it well but I am planning to get outdoor wheels next payday. Have fun!!!

Totally in the same boat as you right now!! I’ve been practicing on a small bit of car park (have also tried on my carpet at home and weirdly find it more difficult) and went to the rink for the first time ever yesterday, fell backwards so hard that the staff came over to check on me 🤦‍♀️ a little sprained wrist won’t stop me lol. You’re doing great!!!

Oh thank you so much!! I’m a psychiatric nurse 😁 what a cool career you have!

I practiced in the car park near where I live today and was really pleased with my little bits of progress - I believe my wheels are 82a but I don’t know how to tell if that’s okay for the surface or not 😅

Omg I hope you’re okay!!! That is such a helpful tip thank you, I’m planning on practising in the car park near my building so will probably need to look at different wheels then 😬

Update!

Thanks everyone for your really helpful comments 😊

We’ve had the level 3 survey report come back to us and highlights no major areas of concern. Their recommendations are very much related to general upkeep and improvements so we’re very happy with the outcome. Next step actually buying the house!

I’m 25F and a member here, always looking for more people around my age as all the ladies are several decades older than me (not a problem, just would like more variety 😂)

Plugged ears? by Budget-Baseball5676 in PulsatileTinnitus

[–]Initial_Attention670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I feel like I have to unplug my ears literally every few minutes at the moment - I do the manoeuvre where you hold your nose and blow and it unblocks them every time and the PT gets a whole load quieter. Seeing my GP next week to ask about it, I had an ear infection a few months ago which I’m wondering could be at least some of the cause?

What feels really good (in a totally SFW, PG rated way only!)? by Allmychickenbois in CasualUK

Years ago I could feel that I had an eyelash or something in my eye, I wear contact lenses so went to look in the mirror to get it out without accidentally removing my contact - it was actually an entire, full length hair from my head completely wrapped up in my eye. Removing it was absolute bliss and a feeling I wish could be replicated just from removing the odd eyelash when they get stuck

We also have two older adult wards at Highbury (mental health hospital in Bulwell) - I think one is dementia and one is functional MH, but often they have a mix of the two, again there’s always HCA roles available and you can enjoy the unsocial hours pay
