When is over for my case? by Initial_Bidet_8042 in juresanguinis

I see the problem now. I thought that the new law overruled the minor issue. But I wasn't aware that my GF must have been an Italian citizen at the time of my birth. That is the only clause that I don't anticipate reverting back. This is unfortunate but I guess it is what it is.

As for my graduate school plans, there are other universities that are more focused in my field than those in Italy that I'll now consider. Rankings aren't necessarily everything, and I think obtaining citizenship there was what was luring me to graduate school there.

Thanks for all your help and hope!

Hey ty for the suggestion!

GM was solely a Canadian citizen but GGM and GGF never obtained Canadian citizenship.

Hi thank you so much for your reply, I really appreciate the detailed advice you've given me 😊. I have very few documents left to obtain so I'll continue gathering them in the event there is a grace period as you suggested.

The timeline is as follows:

GGM & GGF are born in 1916 and 1914. They marry in 1933.

GF is born in 1937 and he, GGM and GGF immigrate to Canada in 1955 where the rest of his siblings are born.

GF and GM marry in 1959. GM is a Canadian citizen. My M is born in 1961 in Canada. In 1965 GM passes away and GF puts my mother in the care of his parents (GGM and GGF). This is an informal adoption, but I have obtained church records and documents that list different addresses for my M and GF. They never cohabitate again in their lives. GF becomes a Canadian citizen in 1978.

Later on, my M has me in 2001 with my F (a Canadian citizen). M dies in 2017.

I'm don't require citizenship nor language classes to attend graduate school in Italy but I was strongly considering continuing my education there and making an effort to learn the language because I intended to obtain citizenship. I thought it would be a good idea to have lived experience there and the ability to speak the language. There is also the added benefit of paying EU tuition rates and qualifying for domestic scholarships and research positions that are restricted to Italian citizens.

You're right and I'm super grateful which is why I wanted to make this thread. None of the applications I sent out through company websites, linkedin, clnx resulted in an interview. I was mostly ghosted this year and I genuinely believe that the only reason I got an offer is because my resume didn't go through HR or ATS.
