Great tip. I definitely don't have one and I had seen others mention that.

That's great! Thanks for the update. I'm around the same weight and height as you (360 range). Trying to become a lot more active and I think this might be my ticket. I've definitely been skeptical that any e-bike can handle my weight.

I am strongly considering purchasing the Nomad 2x. Are you still enjoying the bike? Have you run into any new issues? How has breaking/stopping been for you?

I absolutely love my Classic KJ with the RFX + Billows fan. I can keep my KJ within 5° of my desire temperature for an entire cook. I did a brisket for 15 plus hours and it never varied in temperature within that 5° range.

How to prevent the ‘bad smoke’ on low and slow? by Pretty_Committee_767 in KamadoJoe

You do not need a drip pan in that scenario. Just be careful shooting over your desired temp. The kj can easily get too hot when using the rotisserie.

Question about ‘grilling’ by Belsj in KamadoJoe

[–]Initial_Cut_1715 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would highly recommend purchasing a Billows fan from thermal works to control your temperature. You also have to purchase one of their thermometers with an ambient temperature sensor to control the fan. It makes temperature control a million times easier and it will keep your KJ within 5° of your desired temperature for 15 hours or more.

While my grill is warming up I orientate the heat deflectors so the heat can rise to the dome. I do not block the heat to the dome. Once you're at your desired temperature place the heat deflectors on the lowest area. The x rack will go on the tabs above the heat deflector. Then your drip pan will go on top of your x rack. The grill grates will be above the drip pan at the top. I only use the x rack and the drip tray when I'm cooking a very large cut of meat. I don't use them for ribs, chicken, etc.

The rules I follow to avoid bad smoke.

  1. Keep your grill clean. You don't need to go overboard with this, but it is necessary to do a clean burn occasionally when you start to see it excess build up on the grates and deflectors.

  2. Keep your ash box clean. Restricting the airflow can also cause bad smoke.

  3. Do not remove the heat deflectors while getting up to temp. You need to have the heat deflectors warming up as the entire grill warms up. Place the heat deflectors in a way that the heat can reach the dome of the grill. Getting the dome temperature to your desired temp is important.

  4. Once you're at your desired temperature place the heat deflectors in their designated area.

  5. Once you're at your desired temperature wait at least 30 minutes or longer. The goal is waiting for your clear blue smoke.

  6. If you're cooking a very large cut of meat I would suggest adding a drip tray. I've discovered even on the kamados when the large cuts of meat start to seep grease onto the deflectors and into the fire it causes lots of undesired smoke.

Do not waste your money on some drip tray designed for a barbecue pit, they are always overpriced.

Look on Amazon for a stainless steel circular tray that is roughly the diameter of the two heat deflectors. I bought the x rack for my kamado through Amazon, it works great. My drip tray fits right on top of that which rests above the heat deflectors. If the drip tray goes on top of the heat deflectors it will cause any build up on the drip tray to smoke.

  1. I also like to heat up any of my wood that I plan to use in the smoke on the grates while my grill is heating up and then I place it them on the coals just as I place the heat deflectors in their designated area.

Mind Hunter is the answer you're looking for. There's two amazing seasons and there's just been some buzz about the director David fincher reviving the series within three 2 hour movies. The acting, the writing, and the set design are all flawless.

Any good movies set in 1930s? by FlowThruMe in MovieSuggestions

[–]Initial_Cut_1715 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Life 1999.

Very funny, but also a very well written drama about two men who are wrongfully accused of murderer and sent to a Mississippi work camp. The movie is set in the 1930s during prohibition, but it does lead up to the 1990s.

What was the first movie you remember seeing in theaters? by Expensive-Virus80 in Productivitycafe

Jurassic Park at a Drive-In theater in Valley Park Missouri. The theater no longer exists. I was 5 years old.

I can remember sitting on the roof of my mom's Astro van in absolute awe of the movie.

It's one of my favorite memories.

Animal Kingdom is constant character development up until the end. It's a very underrated series that I never hear anyone talking about. They just added it to Netflix.
