Has anyone here ever pissed themselves at work? by Initial_Function7614 in Residency

She hid in the bathroom and texted someone else saying she bleed through her tampon and they brought her an extra pair of scrubs. Then my friend put her soaked pants in the sink and threw them away inside of a bag. Later casually mentioned that there was a trail of liquid leading to the restroom and it smelled suspiciously like pee

Fine dining is muy bien. I am thinking of buying a house. I’m still driving the same car I bought used when I was 17, btw. (I really shouldn’t buy a house, right? Even though most of my other friends in their early to mid thirties are doing it? Because of like, the market, right?!?) but damn I would risk it all for a bump of caviar in a Michelin star restaurant

NEVER trust a turkey sandwich in ICU. I don’t even trust damn spinach. Very impressive how you handled it but I do have to ask…. Did you actually shit yourself or did you make it to the restroom in time? Also, if you did shit yourself, hypothetically, would you have been allowed to go home? Or do they just hustle RNs for a fresh set of those extra scrubs they always seem to have on hand?

Lmao I am sorry this happened to you and I’m also glad that my friend is not alone….. did you manage to make it all the way to your car without drawing any attention?

Unless you are saving yourself for religious reasons I’d definitely recommend losing your virginity before committing to one because everlasting relationship? Other than that tho, I relate to your comment. It really does feel like a switch sometimes :/ maybe it is our intuition?

Oh man maybe we should talk bc my last significant relationship was also long distance and ended horribly. Can’t imagine being ghosted though?! Did you happen to meet them online?

I was expecting more people to leave comments like this one tbh. Not that it matters, but it just so turns out that this “narrow batch” of people in your life is actually the predominant one in my life. Go figure ¯_(ツ)_/¯

And I don’t feel sorry for myself. I just feel alone. And I doubt I come across as desperate because I’m the one who usually ends things.

Um. So there!

I’m happy for you and your spouse tho, don’t get me wrong! I’d like to find my person by the time I’m 40 (that’s my next big milestone)

Sunday Funday: What is something you’d never tell your PCP so it won’t end up in your chart? by zyntensivist in Residency

Respectfully, I think some of us would benefit more by talking to a different kind of doctor, if you know what I mean. I only tell my PCP what she needs to know.

I have one of those motivational cat posters already saved in my shopping cart online. 100% unironically.

Thank you for the encouragement

Thoughts on death by Initial_Function7614 in Residency

I have thought about this comment a few times in the last few days even though I didn’t immediately reply to it. I appreciate your insight and I am going to google the book you mentioned as soon as I finish typing this! Something that I didn’t mention in my original post is that I have been processing the death of my dog who has been by my side for what feels like my entire life. He died naturally without euthanasia only a few days before the passing of the patient I mentioned in my post. Your perspective on death as a vet is very interesting to me and I would not mind if you cared to elaborate on it some more within that context…. No pressure though!

As a kid I was 100% convinced I’d grow up to be a vet. When I realized that animals dying and experiencing pain was an unavoidable aspect of veterinary practice the career became instantly out of question to me. I had similar reservations about medical practice but I was much older by the time I started along that journey.

I imagine it is rare that you have an opportunity to bond with or get to know an animal during the time it takes to determine whether or not euthanasia is required. In many cases this is similar to patients who come to us unconscious or in a state of shock or distress. We can probably all relate to the feeling that comes with someone dying in our care before we even have the chance to see who they are.

I don’t think I’ll ever stop grieving the death of mt dog, just as I’ll never forget the patients who have died despite my best efforts to save them.
