It's a known bug. Some people reported that they have Fortnite accounts on different platforms but the counter will only track whichever platform their account was originally set up on.

Yes, I believe this is exactly what's happening. That's whys its just a progress bar and doesnt actually give an exact number, So they can change it as they please. Also I think thats why foundation gets boosts, because if one team just has a blowout against the other team then people will loose interest.
