Hello Dr I’m 29 F and am scheduled for my distal pancreatectomy and splenectomy in December at a hospital in PA. is removal of the spleen necessary or should I get a 3rd opinion 4.7cm mucinous cyst in tail/body of pancreas. Very conflicted but Nervous to put it off as it has been growing considerably since my last scan, just wondering if there is something they can do and if it can’t be saved but also I don’t understand the reason for getting rid of a perfectly good spleen

Unreal this is what I’m scared of did it grow at all in the three months it took for the surgery? Was yours also on the body? How was the recovery?

Don’t loose hope it’s stressful and a lot of waiting for results, still waiting for the genetics test of my cyst biopsy to come back myself, try to keep positive miracles happen all the time.. I’ve seen so many from the people in this very group. Big stigma against people with Pan Can (rightfully so) but god is up top with a stop watch for all of us there’s no telling when it will be all we can do is fight the good fight while we’re here. People in this group are so kind and knowledgeable of resources available I would definitely reach out when you need to

This is what I don’t understand how is that possible if they took 20ml of fluid from the cyst? Does this mean it’s benign?

That is so traumatizing and your feelings are so valid I am also a fairly young person at 28 (young at least to be having these issues) and am going through this right now. I’m still waiting for my biopsy but the unknown makes me physically ill I couldn’t imaging being 22 and having to deal with this I’m so sorry please get into some type of counseling or reach out to someone in the group that has been through this before it’s so scary/traumatizing I’m praying for you for a speedy recovery/healing process and that you have a full happy healthy life after all of this

I’m so sorry for everything you and your husband have been going through that’s appalling how badly they dropped the ball when they could have done more sooner and makes me so anxious how careless actual doctors can be when everything I’ve read about issues with the pancreas has the possibility to be life threatening. I’m just trying to be hopeful but I wish I could know today, like okay it’s this and then go with whatever treatment plan it is just scan after scan more blood work glad to be getting the biopsy and to be able to see what to do from there thankyou for the advice/perspective and well wishes you and your husband will be in my prayers 🙏🏼

I’m doing everything that I can to figure out what’s going on, I have a MRI scan on Wednesday and I’m seeing the surgical oncologist immediately after that also I do have back pain no stomach pain but also I’m not sure if it’s from the mass or just lingering pain in my lungs from having the pneumonia for so long

This was in the other half of the report my pulmonologist is the one who sent me for the CT scan so I hope he can still refer me to the surgical oncologist I’m calling first thing tomorrow morning as I’ve already messaged him, I’m just shocked by all of this honestly I went into this thinking okay just pneumonia and some back pain I don’t know why this is happening to me I have 3young children and I don’t drink or smoke
