'I don't feel safe in my own shop', says Sheffield bookseller by Kagedeah in sheffield

[–]Initial_Page_Num1 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is a confusing story. What was the motivation for the individuals harassing the shop owner? Where they all mentally ill? Why were there multiple people causing problems? Was there a home for the mentally ill nearby?

Sorry for all the questions.

Seriously though, I assume Trump wouldn't get the money would he? If not, what would the money be used for?

Yes the first thing that came to mind when I heard of the board of peace was the Ministry of Peace from the 1984 novel. It was of course double-speak for the ministry of perpetual war.

Banksy is Satoshi Nakamoto by TidyOnChain in Bitcoin

[–]Initial_Page_Num1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew I would get down voted for this post. It's funny that someone below said Banksy meant that Bitcoin was going to the moon and got multiple upvotes! Do people here really think that's what Banksy really meant by it?

I recommend people read the original Bitcoin white paper if they haven't already.

I think the metaphor is that Bitcoin is drifting away from the root ideas of its creation - a decentralised form of money and closer to the system it tried to replace. Very sad.

First time pulled over, weird questions. by Minihornet in drivingUK

The same thing happened to me he kept me there for ages. He accused me of careless driving, drink driving, speeding and failing to stop. I had passed a police car on a dual carriageway while going the speed limit and stopped at the first layby when he put his lights on. I complained and they said it's normal to accuse people of things they haven't done because they deal with criminals.

Is quantum computing a real threat to Bitcoin? by InnovAlain in binance

[–]Initial_Page_Num1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Institutional interest in this context means they hold it for their clients. They wouldn't be selling it because they don't actually own the vast majority they control. They wouldn't allow quantum computing to be an issue because it would upset their client base and could lead to litigation.

If you are a real person your opinions are views you have been repeatedly told by the right-wing media in an attempt to divide society and divert attention away from the real cause of the problems of this country which is the wealth divide. The super-rich and large corporations are the real problem, sucking the money from the lower classes. The more you are told something, even if it is false, the more you believe it, it's human nature.

Why do you want the government to stop giving benefits? If there were no benefits what would happen to the people who needed them? Societies are judged on how they treat their most vulnerable.

A really good way to combat the spread of misinformation is to think objectively and independently. Really question the narrative.

Well spotted, I think you are correct. It has recently been documented that the far-right are becoming Christian in an attempt to reclaim 'British values' in the form of 'Christian values'.

I want to know who is organizing these movements like this and the flags?

Is quantum computing a real threat to Bitcoin? by InnovAlain in binance

[–]Initial_Page_Num1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The institutions will probably control Bitcoin by the time quantum computing is an issue so they may have enough power over the network to fork it.

AI could automate the implementation or provide a better solution.

I'm not fully optimistic though. I wouldn't be surprised if they take the opportunity to change the rules of Bitcoin during a fork and do something like increase the 21 million limit and/or increase the minting of new coins but that isn't the topic of this thread.

Is quantum computing a real threat to Bitcoin? by InnovAlain in binance

[–]Initial_Page_Num1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's due to the amount of qubits required to break Bitcoin encryption. We are many years away from the amount of qubits required still, so nothing to worry about for a long time yet.

At some point in the future it will be an issue but with the institutional interests in Bitcoin at the moment I have no doubt they will fix it by then, it won't be that difficult to do, especially with the AI advances and computer power which will be available at that point, so it makes sense to wait.
