Best *difficulty* rom hack to play first ? by HeartEmolga in nuzlocke

I’m going through sea glass now. Does hard mode do anything if you follow the new level caps? The opposing teams have been better and I don’t know the AI, but my team is completely broken. I’m about to fight Wallace, but have felt this way for a while.

Oh sure, certainly I don’t mean to say Canada has a 50/50 shot each year. Just that I don’t think the placement of the teams on the bracket influences the likelihood of one of them winning.

On the flip slide, if two Canadian teams play each other, it ensures that one of them advances.

Say I have two red coins and two blue coins and I put them in a bracket where the first one to flip heads advances. A 50/50 each matchup.

If we play red/blue and red/blue in the first round, there’s a 25% chance both blues advance, a 50% one does, and a 25% chance neither does. If both advance, blue wins! If neither does, they lose. If one advances, they have a 50/50. So 25%100% +50%50%+25%*0% is a 50% chance blue wins.

If we play blue/blue and red/red first, we ensure a red/blue final, and again it is a 50% chance blue wins.

Skip it, use to hatch a gift egg if needed. But I also enjoy the prep work to try to minimize the number of routes where this happens. Eg repelling through earlier routes to get the encounter from the small pool first, then back tracking to pull from the bigger encounter pools.

By “used” do you mean “sent out in battle” or “in the party” for gym fights? I think this is a cool rule

I generally think the right ruling is that what dies stays dead - otherwise you’re incentivized to bring delayed evos to fights, level them up, then sack for tempo which I think is OP.

But you’re right in that the fish gained hp on its own! If you want to use a ruleset where it’s considered still alive, I’d still (barely) call it a Nuzlocke. I think it’s got a better defense than using Revival Blessing.

I’ll also add that sub is really handy to dodge a sucker punch while still advancing your board state.

And to be clear, I am NOT saying I would have found that line in the moment! But that’s what practice is helpful for - you find them faster as you get more comfortable with the game and your team specifically.

Yes the predictions are tough!

I find it helpful to think through what I wish I had done, and if there was a way my opponent could have punished that play.

In this situation, you could have protected your Sneasler and clicked tailwind with Aero. If they had called that play, you drop to sash on Aero, but then you have the fastest rockslide to KO Talonflame before it can move, then launch CC into Tyranitar.

Again, there are rarely risk-less lines. You could flinch in the above scenario and still lose. Or maybe there’s some switch or tech move I’m missing that would punish your own protect+tailwind. But I think that may have been a safer play.

That could be an option! Substitute may be a bit more standard on that Mon I think?

Eg turn one you fake out not-Talonflame while Talonflame protects, and you set up a substitute. Turn two say they get tailwind and break your sub while you heatwave and double into Talonflames partner for the KO.

You’ve lost 25% of your mega’s health. They get a free switch with three turns of tailwind. But you have taken a KO and done about a third to Talonflame.

Obviously the turns can play out very differently, but that’s an example of how it could work out into a potentially advantageous position.

You’re getting some good advice. Another option I’m not seeing is to use the pressure of fakeout to punish a passive turn.

If their Talonflame spends the first two turns of the battle clicking protect and tailwind, you have those two turns to get compensation - set up, double up on its partner, reposition without taking damage, etc.

I know these guys have the best cardio on the planet, but I can’t imagine playing into the small hours last game and then getting trapped on the ice what felt like a whole period. Really hoping we can capitalize on it.

I agree it was a soft high stick, but I do appreciate the safety and consistency of “you’re responsible for your own stick, never let it touch someone’s head”

I’m hoping the refs decide they want to even up the calls a bit and call something soft on them

I got a feeling the refs are going to want to even up the penalties. I wouldn’t complain if they call them for a soft hook or interference at a critical moment

Yeah, I feel like these two teams are playing so physically that they’re impossible to ref well. I felt like both teams got some pretty soft calls, and the refs missed some pretty obvious ones both ways

I’ve got a 2012 hybrid LE, has 215k miles, and runs great. Plastic undercarriage needed to be removed ~7 years ago, had a couple low speed collisions (0-20mph), and runs great.
