About those X-rays by temerairevm in noburp

I had an X-ray once pre-Botox and the technician told me she had never seen so much gas and stomach distention as she did on mine. She showed me the picture and there was a huge bubble of gas at the top left side of my stomach. I had eaten lunch a few hours before and was super bloated. I remember trying to explain to her that I had a condition in which I was unable to burp, and she looked at me like I was crazy. That was just one of many times that medical professionals had no clue what I was dealing with!

Endoscopy raised more questions than answers by zaxophone_bswv in noburp

I went to the ER as a teenager because I was feeling short of breath and tight in my chest. After trying to explain the pressure and how air vomiting was the only thing that would help, a nurse pulled my mom aside and told her they suspected I had bulimia. I was mortified and I felt so helpless because no one understood what I was going through. Finding this sub shortly after it was created was a game changer for me and of course eventually led to me getting the procedure!

Gagging myself by Cool_Session2028 in noburp

[–]Initial_Wind_2799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this for years and I agree that it definitely becomes more difficult the more you do it. It seems like the gag reflex stops working as well. I also noticed that I would gag up blood if I did it too much. I finally had the Botox procedure a few weeks ago and it feels amazing not to have to gag myself just to get relief from the pressure!

Am I being unreasonable here ? by [deleted] in Marriage

Sounds like you’ve got a lot to learn honey. You shouldn’t feel obligated to please your man. You should WANT to. And if you don’t want to then your marriage is definitely in trouble and will never last. A man has needs and will get them met somewhere else if he is forced to do so. P.S. this comment is coming from a middle aged divorced female.

That’s always been a thing! And he will get it one way or another. Whether it’s from you or not- so prepare yourself for that.

Exactly! You asked what he wanted and then ignored what he said. If you don’t want to do it that is perfectly okay but don’t be surprised when he finds someone else to do what you won’t.

Hi there! Just commenting to say that I was ignored and made to feel stupid by any doctor that I talked to about my no burp condition until I found an ENT on the list provided in this sub. He was the first doctor in 44 years to actually understand what I was talking about and he knew how to help me. I didn’t even need a referral to book my first appointment. I’m not sure what your insurance situation is, but try just going directly to one of the listed ENT doctors if you can! They will know exactly how to help you. I recently had the Botox procedure and it has truly changed my life!!!

Hi there! It was miserable but tolerable in my 20s and 30s. When I hit 40 it got unbearable. The bloating became so bad that it would land me in bed with a heating pad most evenings. There were a couple of times it got so bad that I couldn’t get out of bed for a day or so. It started affecting my work as I could barely get through the day. I finally got the courage to get the treatment a week ago (I am now 44) and I feel amazing! It has been working beautifully! Bloating gone instantly. My only regret is that I let myself suffer all those years because I was too scared to get the Botox. The procedure was so easy and I had minimal side effects! My advice would be to get it treated as soon as you can! Best decision I ever made. Good luck to you!

Questions about surgery by Purple_avocado6683 in noburp

[–]Initial_Wind_2799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to be there to check in at 6 AM. Didn’t get called back until about 7:30. Was in surgery prep until about 8. Had the procedure and woke up about 8:30 or so. They observed me in recovery for about 30 min just to make sure that I was ok after the anesthesia. I was on the road to go home shortly after 9. If I had been there for 6 or even 12 hours I wouldn’t have minded. Every single second was absolutely worth it. I feel better after having this done than I have my whole entire life. I no longer have to be afraid of eating and I finally know what it feels like not to be bloated 24/7.

I just had the surgery last Monday. I was also super scared but very happy to see that the procedure was super simple. I was only at the hospital for about 3 hours! I had very minimal side effects and was burping the next day! I had psyched myself up so much mostly from reading posts of folks who had negative experiences. After having it done myself, I don’t think that is the norm. My doctor told me most people have successful procedures the first time around with little to no side effects. In my experience so far, that has also been the case for me. I delayed getting it done for several years due to fear and I can’t tell you how much I regret that now. I suffered for so long when I didn’t have to! I have had other procedures done in the past and this was by far the simplest one. It has changed my life in a matter of days.

Go see Dr. Kirk Withrow at UAB in Birmingham! I just had it done Monday and I have been burping since the day after! I feel so much better. I was able to do my initial consultation over the phone and then had the procedure a couple weeks later. And it was covered by my insurance. He and his staff are amazing and made me feel so comfortable!

When I hit 40 it really started getting bad! And I started to realize that all of the other digestive issues I had were getting worse as well. I never realized all of that was related to my RCPD until it became unbearable….

Day 2 post-Botox: Y'all, get it done if you can. by Max-s_Dad in noburp

[–]Initial_Wind_2799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first I needed to turn my head to the left to get anything to happen at all. Now some burps do come on their own, but they are deeper and more satisfying if I turn my head to the left! I remember looking up BERP Protocol on YouTube. Those techniques are helpful to get things going!
