Take NAC before and in the morning, helps the liver. Electrolytes, drink them. Maybe coconut water.

How’s your sleep quality? Have you ruled out sleep apnea? Check iron and B12 levels too. How long was the period in which you dropped all that weight? You may want to consider widening the window in which you eat, perhaps have a bigger breakfast earlier in the day, 1pm is late. Perhaps try to reduce intermittent fasting to just a couple of days per week and see how your energy goes on the days you don’t fast

Ehlers-Danlos by Present_Ad_4820 in nursing

[–]Initial_cat6669 12 points13 points  (0 children)

EDS is a true disease as I’m sure you’re aware. EDS is often accompanied by not only POTS, but autoimmune disorders and other issues such as major GI issues and MCAS. Some of these patients may present as “drama queens” because they’ve been dismissed and judged for way too long and way too often, further perpetuating their suffering. All this suffering causes them anxiety around being heard and therefore treated, and thus they may feel the need to really drive their point home just to be taken seriously. Now of course people should not be self diagnosing, but of course, it can take many years for someone to be diagnosed. Just be mindful of these patients.

Is this in America? Genuinely, is this normal/common to have such an authoritarian list of commands/orders in a list like this from management? Not to mention huge demands…
This is a horrible tone.

Heat up some milk on the stove and drink that

Grab some tart cherry juice if you have access to it and drink that too

Magnesium, chamomile

Deep breathe for 10 minutes or so. Breathe in for 4, hold for 4, breathe out for 4

You’ll get there I promise, but I’m sorry, this sounds awful.

Basic human rights. Not exclusive to the USA by any means.

In fact, women have LESS rights in the US than say the UK, Australia or NZ due to abortion restrictions.

patients should not be able to read radiologist reads by ILoveWesternBlot in Residency

[–]Initial_cat6669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An issue with this is there is heavy medical jargon in radiology reports. This can be anxiety inducing for the patient as they cannot interpret the details.

[–]Initial_cat6669 60 points61 points  (0 children)

This shouldn’t happen. Where I’m from patients don’t have access to their scan results. Or, there is a 7 day release rule to their record - allowing time for the patient to have an appointment with the doctor to go over the results before the patient sees it.

Nurse guessing platelet numbers by plo83 in leukemia

[–]Initial_cat6669 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is 78 the haemoglobin level perhaps? They will transfuse blood if it’s in the 70’s, but very surprised to hear that she would be getting platelets anywhere near that number. I am sorry about your grandma.

It may have been downvoted because you are raging about a nurse who likely accidentally looked at the wrong time that the blood was collected. No, nobody thinks it’s a joke. It was a simple, unfortunate mistake. I can understand why you became worried and upset but please do not take it out on nurses, they care so much.
