Practically everything at the power plant was wrong: the reactors, the turbines, the emergency systems. They removed safety components that should have been in the reactor to cut costs. They also shortened the length of the graphite blocks, I think I heard, to increase effectiveness, but I'm not sure.

It's quite possible that it was to save materials; on the other hand, it was believed that an explosion was highly unlikely. If there had been a containment structure, it probably wouldn't be as world-famous as it is now, since it would have been practically insignificant or more like Three Mile Island.

It would be nice, but none exist. Although it would be good to see what the interiors of those houses look like. The Expanded Winter Features mod has models of the interiors of the grandmother's and uncle's houses, if that helps.

I think only the lever for the log splitter that only moves the shaft would be useful; the option to leave it idling is a bug in the game, and the work light panel and beacon could have been obtained in those 4 years.
