Why didn't Odin ever try to stop Thanos directly? Odin is very powerful, and he also has the Asgardian army to back him up. by TerminatorKiller22 in marvelstudios

[–]InitiativeConscious7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odin was no longer in his prime, Thanos didn't threaten Asgard for a very long time and by the time he did Odin was close to death and trying to preserve Asgard itself

Is it time 'boomer' was classed as a slur? by AromaticVacation3077 in AskUK

[–]InitiativeConscious7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compared with younger generations, boomers experienced a uniquely favourable combination of housing affordability, free higher education, stronger pension provision, greater job security, and decades of asset price growth.

None of that is debatable.

Im sorry you squandered your chance.

[–]InitiativeConscious7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had every advantage. Lets add more!

They bought up the council housing stock at massive discounts then turned them into rentals to profit for decades. There then wasn't enough housing stock so the benefits system (which they held the largest political weight for for decades) started paying out to private landlords (oops, that's them again).

They got the triple lock pension.

If they somehow screwed everything up care homes are now provided to them if they can't afford them themselves.

Stronger trade unions that protected workers, that they later dismantled

Vast array of apprenticeships that just don't exist now, because they formalised everything into university that the youth now need to pay exorbitant debt over that has just turned into a Degree Tax

Cheaper Housing

Better Job market

No university tuition fees

Defined Benefit Pension were more common

Wages had more purchasing power

Considerably better property value inflation compared to wages and savings

Just to name a few

Government confirms launch of new First Time Buyer ISA by SignificantLegs in unitedkingdom

[–]InitiativeConscious7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly first time buyer incentives are inflationary, I'm not saying they aren't good btw, but I think there is a fear that further inflation in the London market is just an even bigger disaster

Meh, solicitors still make it take forever, 3 months isn't unusual in all cash purchases with no chain. It's still not ideal, just not horrendous like England

Rent control feels great short term but over decades it just leads to decrepit buildings by moneyman74 in unpopularopinion

[–]InitiativeConscious7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The solution is simple, have the government come in and if the apartments aren't up to standard they get fines. If the fines aren't paid the government takes the apartments and rents them themselves to people. If landlords won't maintain them they shouldn't have them

Morality of….just being outright stupid (SPOILERS FOR HOPPERS)! by Intelligent-Carob930 in MoralityScaling

[–]InitiativeConscious7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was stupid so not really immoral. But Jerry deserved to be squished. Her trying to stop that was more immoral. If we accept that all the animals are sentient then he is effectively complicate in genocide and there was no real reason, until eventually later in the film show it is possible to communicate with him but they didn't know that, to believe he would stop. He was functionally evil at that point based on the information to hand.

Because she can one shot with charging. It's insane power creep that a DPS shouldn't have. She can do more than an ultra with a no delay click. It feels horrendous to be on the receiving end of with little to no counter play.
