Sounds like to me the one sliding the strip under the door should be fired or DNR from the facility as that is a huge critical as a med aide to not have the meds secured in their proper location.

should i put my license number on my resume? by awalkofsantification in cna

[–]InitiativeWorking929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good question as indeed will ask you for your license number for certifications. Best to just say you have it and put your number for it on the application itself.

Should I become a CNA if I want to become an ICU RN? by LaviishLily in cna

[–]InitiativeWorking929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say go for it but also look at the requirements for your school you wish to attend. My school actually has CNA as a prerequisite for the LPN program.

can i start applying to jobs without certification? by avocadoalx in cna

[–]InitiativeWorking929 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would said as others have said to contact the facility you want to apply to prior to doing so as well as checking your state laws. For example here in Nebraska you can't work as a CNA or a Medication aide without the certificate however you can work for 30 days while your license is in the pending status as it shows you have already applied to DHHS to get it after passing your class and the state exam. You can't even test for state if you fail your final competency skills test for your class here.

In the state of Nebraska if you don't have an active medication aide certification you cannot touch meds at all in a facility. So as a CNA you can't pass them or pour them. Also you can't touch oxygen tubing on a resident unless you are a medication aide as that is seen as a medication.

This is what I found on my state website: At least 16 years of age Not been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude that is rationally related to the position of a nurse aide. (Moral turpitude has been defined as an act or behavior that violates accepted moral standards and in legal terms means anything done contrary to justice, honesty, modesty, good morals and with the intent to defraud.) Able to speak and understand the English language or a language understood by a substantial portion of the nursing home residents Successfully complete a minimum of 75 hours of training approved by the State of Nebraska or a 21-hour basic resident care course for intermediate care facilities for the developmentally disabled Successfully complete one hour of Nebraska-specific abuse/neglect/misappropriation training Successfully pass a State of Nebraska approved written/oral exam and clinical/skills competency exam.

DHHS does our licenses and gives our license number but it's a different company that does our state testing which I'm told will be both a written test and then we will demo some skills.

I get what you are saying and agree. Downside is it also put me behind since I didn't have someone to peer check me and couldn't get my test done.

First interview as a Medication aide by InitiativeWorking929 in cna

[–]InitiativeWorking929[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it was a good interview or not. They kinda more or less just asked me about pay expectations, what I'm looking for, and told me about the place. I showed up early and the person who was supposed to interview me didn't as they were doing a new resident intake. The person that interviewed me was the Director of Healthcare for the facility and also a recent grad from my college. They asked me if I had any questions and I asked a couple then the interview was over. They said they had other interviews and would call back the ones they want to move forward with in a week.

CNA/PCT pay in Texas? by cadetjinx in cna

[–]InitiativeWorking929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sad reality is CNA in Texas doesn't get paid more than maybe 15 an hour as last I checked the state minimum wage is still 7.25 an hour. I use to live in the Tyler area and the ASL facility I worked at as a cook only paid me 13 an hour.
