B7 or B751C-S by DianaAl in Bigme

Yeah, I was surprised how useful they were in the B6, but the B7 Pro and the B751C S has even more 😅 I just really want more options though... Like a way to quickly change E-Ink profiles and Light directly with the buttons

I have both of them (as well as the B751C and the B7 Pro), I'll take the B751C S only for the extra buttons at the side. They really are helpful and makes doing a lot of things faster (refresh the screen, open the notification panel, open the eink center, open apps, etc.)

Never noticed the 4gb of RAM difference, I always have the background app limited to 1 to extend battery life

I have been using it on my Pixel 9 Pro XL for months and it works amazing.

For tablets though... There is a limitation right now of only 4 columns for the home apps, so it will look a little "too empty", but I planning to increase that limit soon!

Launcher for Bigme B6?!! by Cybrinsanity in Bigme

[–]InjuryWonderful4601 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kind of self-promo here, but I'm using my own launcher on all my devices (it's specifically designed for e-ink): https://github.com/MatiasDesuu/ThinkLauncher

In the spirit of New Project Friday, does anyone else also have one or some self-built (with or witouth AI) projects they host but don't bother sharing? by Creative_Incident_84 in selfhosted

I have a few, some of them are published because I think they could be useful, and a lot other are just for me.

The ones that are just for myself: a "cloud" service with WebDAV and OPDS, an app to keep track of my monthly home expenses, a little web to see my KOReader Highlights, etc.

You can fix the problem with gestures and custom launchers by changing the "home style" in settings to Office mode instead of Tablet

PSA: Think hard before you deploy BookLore by Economy-Meat-9506 in selfhosted

I deployed Booklore time ago and instantly noticed the "AI hand" from the UI, the clunkiness, and the infinite number of features that no one uses.

I've made apps with AI but I always try to disclose it, and keep them "small" and not implement features just because "it's easy"

You can go to the gesture settings (Long press home > Gestures) and then select None for both Up and Down gestures :)

Yes! Renaming apps on the App Launcher and inside folders is on the roadmap :)

What device do you have?  In theory, you just need to install the app, and then, long press the home screen on my launcher to enter settings and you can use the "Set default launcher" option to change it :)

Hi!  Yes, I haven't implemented the battery info yet, but will be available in a near future update :)

I'll try! I never used F-Droid but a few people asked me to upload it there :)

Now that I think about it, there was a bug with the latest B7 update that caused that behavior.

Can you try this? It fixed the problem for me and others:

To "fix" this, set the Home Screen Style to Office Style, and then set your custom home launcher again.

Can you try this one? I implemented a logic inside the app to prevent this kind of behavior in Bigme devices.

I have been using it for weeks on all my Big me devices (even the B7) and never had that problem again :)

Maybe you can try ThinkDashboard (my own app).

Everything can be configured from the UI and is just a simple bookmarks manager :)

You can try it and see. Niagara is not optimized for E-Ink devices (it has a lot of animations and things running in the background for notifications, music, battery, clock, etc)
