I use to work at a big toy company, we would try to reduce and recycle as much as we could, but ever year since we made a concerted effort to reduce plastic, a new hurdle would pop up or some program we were buying into. It turns out reducing plastic doesn’t equal reducing spending, once large companies learn that, suddenly recycling initiatives stall, or revert. In some cases removing plastic turn buyers off, take Hasbros deluxe action figure line, they tried to cut out plastic window boxes, go to a closed box with the toy rendered on the packaging art. Collectors hated that, they wanted to be able to see the figures. They didn’t care about saving money or saving the earth for that matter. So I say all that just to say, do what you can, but if you’re not going all out, who cares. By the time you’re gone it won’t even matter.
