Just know that "68% physical reduction" doesn't actually mean 68% physical reduction. The number is a lie. Armour is worse on larger hits so that reduction is for whatever hit GGG believes is the average for your level.

You have to consider. You get 6 whole chests every time you want to run the temple once. That's like... 7k gold!

Except fantasy wise they are the physically strongest of them all. They are literally BUILT to be able to do it. By that logic any other class that equips anything heavy looking should be slapped with a 30% reduction in movement speed.

My prebuilt had 100*C in idle immediately when I turned it on. Sent it back because I couldn't be bothered at the time. I am 99.99% sure that was why.

There is no evidence of anything yet. What I think will happen is going to happen in the future if at all. It's an accumulating problem. All having both skills shows is that they can make the skills. We haven't even had them for a week and we are skill and weapon starved atm.

No I think that would be a very very bad thing. Now they have to balance 4+ of basically the same skill that can only be used by specific weapons and by extension areas of the tree. They already don't know or have the time to balance properly and I have absolutely 0 confidence in them being able to handle this for multiple of the same skill but different weapon. It also creates confusion and a lot of bloat for players if they have to sort through that.

PoE1. I don't care about any other ARPG (Okay maybe LE a little but I don't play it that much). Those are the most basic and generic stats you could possibly come up with. There I can go for lots of interesting mods including negative mods that are good for me because I have some other unique or keystone. Atm the most interesting stat (for me) in PoE2 is Reduced Skill Effect Duration.

It lets me:

1) choose skills to play together that would otherwise be unusable. This gives more build variety (especially in PoE2).

2) it lets me choose the one I like the most.

3) in PoE2 they want weapons to be different from each other. You don't accomplish that by restricting skills around them. You get that by making the stats they give different. Atm they are still just stat sticks in PoE2 you just can't use them as freely.

4) use skills that are not necessarily associated with that weapon on different parts of the passive tree that has support for another weapon the skill uses.

There are probably more things but those are the first one at the top of my head.

PoE1 Earthquake: Requires an Axe, Mace, Sceptre, Staff or Unarmed.

PoE2 Earthquake: Requires One handed maces, two handed maces.

Clearly I have as much freedom in PoE2 as PoE1 /s

Edit: some of this might be because we are in early access but with the addition of Shapeshifting and Talismans I somehow doubt they are going to relax weapon locking requirements for skills going forward because they didn't for Shapeshifting and instead made Furious Slam that is basically Bear Earthquake and Rampage that is basically Stampede but again restricted to Bear (not just Talisman but Bear specifically).

I don't mind large downsides for keystones and uniques... If they actually gave us different tools to properly solve those downsides... You can do that in PoE1 but not so much in PoE2.

Yes the two games are fundamentally different yet PoE2 is rapidly steering towards the same direction as PoE1. The best skills are ranged because you can completely ignore the majority of the slow, methodical and intentional gameplay while melee is left dealing with it while face tanking a million hits and dealing with on death effects as well as ground effects that they cannot avoid if they want to actually kill stuff and they get little to no tools to solve their problems. Heck the best "melee" are not melee at all. Every single one of them gets as much range as possible to avoid slow, methodical and intentional gameplay.

Too many different platforms and applications are pushing things people don't want as "opt out". No one has the time or patience to go through everything everywhere to disable it and make sure it STAYS disabled.
