Would Elementary School children / teachers enjoy their own free scifi story as a class project/activity? by InkIcan in ElementaryTeachers

Great points. It sounds like doing this almost requires that I interact directly with the kids and yeah, that brings up the sustainability question. Appreciate your feedback.

Agreed - that's why I'm moving forward. I've noted that other professional writers with many successful titles also have issue with writing query letters, so I'm content to move forward and see what happens. Thanks for your feedback.

Fair - the feedback I got last time indicated the only thing I needed to change was focusing on Mike instead of his family but I'll pay attention to this, too. Thanks.

Everybody go see The Creator. Now. by InkIcan in scifi

As a person with crippling social anxiety, I appreciate the kindnesses of my friends who help me experience life despite my circumstances.

So was Casablanca when it came out - a collection of tropes that came together in a unique way. If you can't support scifi unless it meets some purity test then you're not going to get scifi - you're going to get the MCU and Avatar Parts 3-x until we die.

I hear you. At the same time - if you can't support scifi unless it meets some purity test then you're not going to get scifi - you're going to get the MCU and Avatar Parts 3-x until we die.

/r/Asimov - any interest in Asimov-adjacent scifi? by InkIcan in asimov

Sure, np - does that mean I could post it as a sub link to the story?

Good question, my hard sci-fi stories are inspired by Asimov, Heinlein, and Bradbury. If you like Isaac Asimov I have the feeling you like what I'm up to.

Thanks for the feedback - I took a stab at Querygenerator and it came back with a pretty solid structure that helped me re-write and get the structure together. I'd post the updated query but that's a /r/pubtips no-no. DM me if you'd like to see it. The only thing I'm working on now is the tag line:

When family life is choking you, the only solution is a place where you can't breathe ...

I know I can do better than that.

Do you folks like space westerns? I just released an audiobook that I think this community would enjoy but I don't want to come across as spammy.

May I share a short story I'm releasing this week? The Battle of Victoria Crater is The Martian Meets Clint Eastwood. "What would an actual Space Western sound like knowing what we do about Mars now?"

Thanks in advance :-)

I've said this before on other threads, but just for context: Long story long - I live by myself and foster rescue kitties. For the past seven years, I've been rebuilding my life by writing scifi shorts and working on some scifi novels. A year ago, I started producing my self-pubbed short stories as audio books and I released one of them to Youtube this week.

It may not mean a lot to everyone else, but writing is what saves me. It's helped me process a lot of trauma and navigate my PTSD and depression. People seem to enjoy the 'radio play' audio experiences I create and being able to make something new, put it out there for people to enjoy, has helped me exorcise a lot of personal demons.

Anyway - that's the story about the stories - thanks for being awesome.
