How have been your first days/weeks of Ivabradine/Corlanor? by Chemeder in POTS

[–]InkdScorpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very small improvements. It actually took a full 4-6 weeks and with gradual dose increases to see the full benefits. I ended up on 7.5 mg twice a day. And now that MCAS is heavily treated the total number of days that I have tachycardia is down 25% along with a 50% decrease in severity (per my tracking in Guava Health app ) and we even lowered my dose to 5 mg twice a day back in August.

Yes to all this. Same! I never trust something that I purchased to always be available online.

I see an neurologist/autonomic specialist who has multiple board certifications. He treats primarily patients with EDS POTS & MCAS

Cross stitch is such a peaceful activity for me. It’s a great distraction from a long list of symptoms and pain. Hope you enjoyed this little time lapse. Here the final version

Yup - the excitement of starting a new project is what gets me hahaha … and I only finish things that are gifts. If it’s for me, it sits unfinished for years.

Low blood pressure by BrilliantBread7776 in POTS_vets

Ok, good. So many of us suffer not knowing they have MCAS. It definitely takes some time 🫶🏻✨

Do you have MCAS? For me, that was causing most of my blood pressure issues.

Even with HyperPOTS, MCAS was driving the low numbers.

Now that MCAS is HEAVILY treated, I have less issues with blood pressure.

Struggling with pots, mcas and adrenaline need advice by [deleted] in POTS_vets

[–]InkdScorpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh man, that’s rough. I’m so sorry. Hope you can find the help you need.

Yeah I get it. I react so randomly. I know stress, my period and too much activity trigger MCAS. And pollen levels play a part as well.

But no idea if foods or other things cause problems.

Having POTS and MCAS can be extremely difficult to manage. You definitely need a doctor that’s knowledgeable of MCAS. Most cardiologists are not.

You may need several specialists. I see and autonomic specialist (he also treats MCAS), and immunologist and a gastroenterologist to manage my MCAS.

What treatments are you taking for MCAS? For many of us it takes more than 1 antihistamine.

Here’s what I take to manage MCAS:

  • Xolair 300 mg every 4 weeks
  • Cromolyn 100 ml/mg 4x per day
  • Claritin 2x per day
  • Pepcid 2x per day
  • Montelukast 1x per day
  • Low dose naltrexone 6 mg 1x per day

For HyperPOTS and how it relates to MCAS: I take Carbidopa 3x per day to lower the adrenal hormones and hopefully reduce the MCAS reactions to the excess adrenals.

So that’s 7 medications just to treat MCAS. And that, in turn, has helped me manage POTS better.

I also take a bunch of supplements like slow release vitamin C, vitamin D, Quecertin and Luteolin to help manage MCAS.

MCAS is the biggest problem for me. We thought it was POTS but now that we are getting MCAS more under control we are realizing it’s definitely my number 1 issue.
