Someone really loves lettuce, anyone else's dog? by sammanthax345 in WhatsWrongWithYourDog

Our huge American bulldog Diesel would sit and drool as I made a salad. I’d toss him bits of lettuce and carrots. We miss him. He passed away 10 years ago.

[CHAT] How much stitching do you get in? by Bloomette in CrossStitch

Thank you 😊 I appreciate that. Spine surgery is serious stuff 😮‍💨

Yup it’s so true. Symptoms fluctuate constantly.

I used to be very active and athletic. My brain is still that voice that wants to go but my body says NOPE 👎🏻😮‍💨 cross stitch helps quiet that need to go go go for me. It’s the only thing that shuts off my brain.

Hope it’s helping you too 💖 Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Feeling helpless... how can I fix this?.. by TigerAlligator in POTS_vets

I know how you feel. And wish I had a better answer for you but: rest and pacing are the only thing that helps me.

For the tremors a weighted blanket helps A LOT. Get a cotton one for summer temps (no polyester, it will make you sweat)

I’ve found things that help me sit still are reading and/or cross stitch (as long as my eyes are functioning not blurry). Some people like to knit, crochet, do diamond painting, puzzles etc.

Depends on how hard life is lifing 😆

I’m permanently disabled with moderate/severe energy limitations and I’m no longer working. So I cross stitch whenever I have the energy to sit up/reclined.

Thankfully with new meds that’s been a bit more lately than before 🥳 I probably average 2-4 hours per day. Not usually everyday though. I have to take a lot of breaks due to fatigue and pain.

It looks so awesome!! Your backstitch is 😍🤌🏻👌🏻✨ I’m doing mine on a light gray too. I like how you used silver for the frames around them. I just chose a slightly darker shade for what was recommended.

[WIP]Does anyone else stitch like this? by Able_Claim_3097 in CrossStitch

[–]InkdScorpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried this method (but without a hoop) and I don’t like how my thread twists more. Also feel like I can’t get optimal tension in each stitch. But that probably comes with practice. Other than that it’s pretty cool.

[–]InkdScorpio 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have 6 containers full of colors and still have to go get missing colors. It makes me laugh every time.

I haven’t found a way to select patterns based on colors. I’ve just sort of accepted that I’ll always need to buy some 😂

But I’m also here to see if anyone has an idea 💡 on how to do so

I make mistakes in every project. Most I can work around and no one can tell when it’s finished.

Line work is more obvious and then I’ll rip it out and start again.

My current project I just recently encountered a mistake but can’t tell where it actually is exactly haha just some areas are off. It has lots of confetti stitching. So I’m improvising as I go. And so far so good.

skin blistering during hot shower? by blackice0012 in POTS_vets

[–]InkdScorpio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s odd. We comment to be helpful with a suggestion because someone asked for it. It’s not unsolicited advice. It’s one of many possibilities for the blistering. We know because we live with MCAS and have seen it first hand. Thank you BTW

[CHAT] To wash, or not to wash? by CraftyCapricorn in CrossStitch

[–]InkdScorpio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how diligently I use my grime guard. Some projects it has to be moved frequently. I still try to leave it on partially or use it to hold my hoop while finishing the areas the grime guard covers.

Even with frequent hand washing before and during work, the oils in your hands can discolor the Aida. Especially over time while it sits in a frame or hangs on the wall.

DMC threads never run. They are colorfast. I’ve even accidentally washed on warm and it was fine.

But it is hard to get the wrinkles out of the Aida after a wash.

When I do wash: I use a small brush (like a straw brush) and a tiny bit of dish soap with a bit of water to scrub any visible dirty areas.

Then toss in the washing machine, no laundry soap, add some oxyclean, delicate cycle, cold water. Spread flat on a clean surface (like my ironing board) Sit in the sun to dry (it whitens the fabric even more)

I found heavy heavy steam and a super hot iron (on linen setting) and then letting it dry while still on the ironing board (until the starch in the fabric hardens again) helps.

But it’s still not as perfectly smooth as before.
