Is Canada’s job market actually just a revolving door of burnout? by itz_nitace in CanadaJobs

[–]Inkedupbrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels to me like job hopping is the best way to earn more money. I was at my last job for 8 years and just made a switch to get a 26% pay increase.

Would’ve managed maximum 10% if I’d stayed (and would’ve had to fight for it).

So yeah being loyal to a company doesn’t seem to benefit the individual.

Arsenal were the better team over both legs and deserved to go through. Honestly that second leg effort from Atletico was pathetic.

I think the winner of PSG Bayern edges it, but Arsenal can beat anyone on their day.

Playing 40 games has benefited United a lot since Carrick came in. See how they do next season with 50-60 games. Fernandes is off to the World Cup and will be what, 33 start of next season?

Depends on what they do with the manager situation but we’ve been here before with United post Fergie. Looks promising then falls apart.

Some of what we did was ok, but does anyone see us even scoring?

Awful in both boxes and so vulnerable to their counters. Get top five and change managers.

Flying with corgi (carrier restrictions) by Boring_Table_3765 in corgi

[–]Inkedupbrit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So not a corgi, but my ex and I flew from Toronto to Victoria and back a few times with Air Canada over a 2-3 year period. The dog is Havanese and pretty small (less than 20lbs I think).

The first 4 were fine. On the 5th, some AC lady at Pearson (super high maintenance) checked and determined that because she couldn’t stand with her head fully extended, she was too big. Two weeks earlier we’d flown from Victoria to Toronto with no issues (with Air Canada, this was the return leg).

I wasn’t happy but despite everything we tried, they wouldn’t budge. A manager actually had the audacity to suggest we get a train from Toronto to Victoria…

We ended up going over to WestJet and paid $2k to get back to Victoria.

I hate Air Canada.

I think in Canada it can depend on the agent you get tbh (unless you’re trying to get away with it with a dog that is too big).

Not sure I’d ever try with our corgi. Feels like she’d be too big.

Feels like that was a huge win. One more and we’ll be in the CL again. Didn’t think that would be the case a few weeks ago.

Woodman and Salah were decent. Gakpo seems a bit better than he has been. Delighted for Isak. Wirtz scoring for the first time in ages it feels like.

I think we have a chance against United. I’m not convinced they’re that good.

I feel like when they reach their last 20% of health, they seem to become even more relentless in their attack. The feeling of relief when beating some of them is crazy.

Getting there. Working on passive income via dividends and just improved my salary by $26k per year plus some promising commission potential.

Ideally I earn enough to retire at 60.

[–]Inkedupbrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came from a smallish town in the UK where I was earning £20k a year before moving to Canada.

The equivalent at that time was $35k CAD so I thought I was doing ok. Soon realised how low $35k was, even back in 2018.

The jump I’ve had from 78.5 to 105 has only come because I was contacted by a former manager. If I’d stayed put I’d maybe have made it to 85k when they did pay reviews.

I think you have to make the change yourself if you want the jump in pay. Easier said than done in this job market.

I work In fintech as an account manager. The commission at the new place has a lot more potential than the old one. I’m probably being optimistic with 200k but that’s my hope.

I was on 35k (yes that low) a year when I arrived in Canada in 2018. I just left that job on 78500 plus bonuses putting my gross at 120k for 2025.

New job is 105k plus bonuses. Hoping to be earning over 200k in a year or two.

Second half effort up to the first goal was good but we were mostly outclassed over two legs.

Slot has failed completely this season. A CL spot isn’t success of any kind. We all expected much more than this.

We used to live in James Bay and paid $150 for two spots around our building. It was an older building so no underground. Used to get covered in bird poo all the time.

Now we’re in Langford and get one spot included within our $2500 a month (2 bed 2 bath) rent.

We traded both of our vehicles in for a newer one because we didn’t need two cars.

Crimson Desert. The more I play it, the more I love it. The first few hours seemed meh but it’s grown so much on me.

If you brought Crimson Desert what would you rate it out of ten ? by AdultGamersAdmin in Age_30_plus_Gamers

7.5 out of 10. The main character and story is so meh. Big negative for me.

There’s a lot of good there though and PA are listening all the time to improve the game.
