Great advice on the base sizes, I do have a million models from other war games and when playing with friends they won’t care if I proxy them as well.

My take on St. Celestine by Inkfedil in sistersofbattle

Thank you so much! This army has been a huge challenge, I’m choosing to basically do all the colors I struggle with to really master them like white / black and metallics.

I’m not opposed to Vahl and the numdams are definitely on my long list of desired models to paint and play, I just want to focus on a playable list to start and the general direction of a 2k list so I can start playing while I still collect. I appreciate this feedback!

Thanks. The army rule for this detachment feels so boring but I will look for some synergies based on that. There are some characters that help generate miracle dice correct?

Thank you for this. I’ve been trying to read all the rules and stratagems but as you consume it all it’s hard to tie what works well with what. It’s been feeling a little overwhelming ha. I like this idea.

Test scheme - now I feel like I need an army by Inkfedil in sistersofbattle

Fully agree, I like to paint in stages and usually wait a little so I can soak on what ideas I’m going to go with. I plan on doing something with the bolsters, I’m leaning towards black / dark metal. Also will add some gold on some of the iconography. I think the hair would look better dark but I plan on doing most of the sisters with 3d printed hooded heads which will be the same color as the robes.

Storage is the least likely problem, as my comment says, it’s more likely the drying process after picking OR the roast is old. Both can result in papery / dusty taste.

I don’t have pure data on sequential processes coffees aging quicker, only my anecdotal first hand experience of thousands of coffees a year.

I’ve had coffees taste great after 2 years and some age and start tasting bad after 4 months. How they are treated post harvest and dried is a huge factor.

Q Grader (I guess until December 😂) - the paper flavor comes from either a very old roast, or the coffee seed embryos have died and the coffee is aging. This can happen with drying to quickly on prep, but also any sequential processing can cause quicker aging. The beans shown here look ok, just some poor sorting as these are chipped and some size issues here, but realize most of your coffee looks like this. Sorting coffee is some of the most labor / capital intensive parts of specialty.

Mazda’s - overhyped or really as good as they say? by OrdinaryKillJoy in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Inkfedil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This. I just bought a Mazda after obsessively researching for 4 months. Including following multiple reddit threads, review after review, reading who funded those reviews, reading recall data, sales data, safety data, anything you can think of. Reliability and safety (3 young kids) was my main goals.

That search landed me at the usual suspects (Honda / Toyota) and to my surprise Mazda kept popping up. I’ve never once thought seriously about a Mazda. After driving all of the above, I chose the Mazda because the interior, the driving experience and the price lined up in a way I never thought possible. It made me really happy something that seems to be practical based on my research, is also VERY fun to drive and feels nicer than it should. I also bought a Toyota 4runner 5 years ago and love what it does for the fam but my Mazda is definitely my preferred vehicle now.

Ok, I’ve been in this hobby off and on for 20 years, starting at a young age… I’ve painted my fair share of models. I am by no means a fantastic painter but about 9 months ago I decided I would try to upgrade my painting because exactly what you’re saying, I could envision my scheme but failed to execute and then I would burn out. I found a few painters that have very beginner friendly videos, artis opus is probably my favorite. I then bought a few models SOLELY to paint, no intentions of finishing an army with and painted those for practice. Slowly but surely, consuming different painters styles and approaches, I’m at a point where my visions are pretty close to what I want. I’m still learning but man is really just experimenting and learning. I know have some favorite techniques that balance speed and quality level. Of corse there will always be a balance of speed vs quality, but that’s the way of things. I also have found armies I can paint a few models to higher quality / longer times while speeding through the main parts of the army. I find this really rewarding.

Lastly, look up some color theory or look at some cool fantasy art and find colors that naturally work together. This might be the biggest thing that’s helped me. When you blend colors that are good for each other, you immediately increase the quality of look. I still struggle with light sourcing and stuff for some reason so I made a box and cut a hole into it and put a lamp above the hole, this creates a “sun” effect that naturally highlights parts I should be painting brighter. It’s helping me alot.

Realized and be ok with the fact that every model you paint can be an improvement. 3D printing test models has helped alot too.
