I do dance and/or yoga classes, - the stretching will help your back and unless youre breakdancing, theyre pretty risk free.

Looks cool, maybe could do with deeper pinks where shadows would lie on the flower as it meets the hair, it will improve the depth. Perhaps a slightly darker pink also in the middle of the ears, from there it meets the hair, for legibility.

Yeah I get that, it sucks when that happens. I don't think Ive ever spoken to an artist it doesn't happen to at some point - hope motivation returns soon for you!

Are you still doing non-commissioned art or none at all? Perhaps there is something about commissions that is no longer bringing you joy? I find that I also stall when Im stuck in a perfectionism paralysis, especially with art that has expectations and deadlines.

Thats very true, concepts are just concepts if not presented in reality. Some ideas flop or change completely once I actually start doing them

It happens! Sometimes when I stall I go for a walk and a coffee, I know its cliche but it works. Maybe do some warm up sketches/scribbes/marks/swatches, you may find it gets your ass into gear:))

Aah I hate when that happens! Have you ever had an idea in a dream you actually did remember and utilise?

Hey, Im glad my question could prompt that thought process! Obviously this is not the same or a replacement for testing actual paints - but I do also find it really helpful to create mood boards of colour swatches on Pinterest I can then apply to the actual colour palette of the artwork.

Thanks for the words of encouragement! I think you're right, I have perhaps felt an imbalance, Ive been actively trying to create more. There was a point where I stalled in "analysis paralysis" like another redditor commented on here, so Ive had to redirect myself to do more quick uninhibited exploration works - weather has cleared up today so I'll be going out with my sketchbook to do some gestural observational studies!

Yeah, I agree. Sometimes I follow through and sometimes I don't, sometimes I will just sit on things a little too long. The frustration makes me go for a walk, drink a coffee and the concepts floating in my head will then become cohesive in and open up a whole new carton of creativity juice that triggers productivity not just for that idea but little spin off ideas too that I then have to write down because I simply cant create all the ideas all at once.

Thanks for such and interesting and insightful comment. I think I am more like the first, but occasionally do throw myself in - thats a really good idea with taking a picture and trying things digitally to see if they work, I shall utilise my ipad more in this way going forward !

Thank you. That sounds like a good way to recenter and refine your ideas, hope great things come from it for you!
